2 things…

I’m not a misogynist but…. Football used to be a means for men to escape from women for a few hours on a Saturday… they’ve taken that off us now…

Football used to be a sport that you could pretty much believe in the integrity of what was happenning in front of your eyes… now we can’t.

It might as well be WWF wrestling the way its going…

Stinks…

Totally agree mate. I have noticed this also. After spending all morning barking orders at the missus about how I want the house cleaned the last thing I want is her clan turning up at the match.

Saturday afternoon is my respite, while she does the ironing.

Smooth FM 3 o clock news.
The lionesses have been celebrating their historic win in Central London.
Then aired an interview with "manchester utd's Ella Toone scorer of England's 1st goal".
Hahaha fucking hell I thought it was a team effort but if you want to single anyone out for importance then I would of thought airing an interview with the scorer of the WINNING GOAL would of been a better scoop.
Obviously not, but I struggle to fathom why not

You should have listened to 5 live instead.
They interviewed the matchwinner.

‘Talk of the Toone’ how the Magnificent Manchester United star breathed life back into the downtrodden English nation.

Thought Jill Scott brought some extra 'oomph' into the midfield too as we seemed to be falling away slightly (not sure who she plays for now). Anyway, well done to the whole team - it was a joint masterclass top to bottom.

Chloe Kelly is now ingrained into folklore. Top entertainment.
"Fuck off you fucking prick" was the highlight for me.

The Dippers will be gutted that their famous victory over the Champions of England will now be down graded to a foot note in the media because of the Lionesses cup win , they couldnt celebrate their only Covid title and now the result they craved on Saturday wil be instanlty forgotten
Well done Lionesses for pissing on the Dippers chips

If the 10 pm BBC news is a repeat of the one just now at 6 you will witness a tribute to Blackburn Rovers ladies and their limited facilities plus some kids in Salford with one in a rags shirt with ZERO mention of the work, talent and investment from us. Clearly the Beeb is keen to make sure the ladies game coverage starts as it means to go on

Just heard a women's football expert on Radio 5 talking about the importance of getting more investment into the WSL and she added: "We need to avoid a situation where a club like Man City just pours money in and there is no parity with clubs like Reading." England would not have won the Euros without the investment made by Manchester City. The vast majority of the England team (including Ragette Ella Toone) were coached and developed by City. Perhaps we should stop investing and leave it to clubs like Reading. The ongoing distorted coverage by the BBC is a joke.

Understandably lots of emotion in much of the reporting of the Women's game today, but I've seen little mention of the salary cap in the main stream media... though of course everyone is piling in, and sometimes non-sports reporters wading in too.

I think this is still the current state...
"...the FA imposes a salary cap on the WSL, whereby clubs can only spend up to 40 per cent of turnover on salaries, but no minimum salary exists".

They have to work on the business models to make each club sustainable and sort out their turnover. City have lost some decent players who go to clubs who pay more in France or wherever, though City are the best run club business wise in this country.

I don't know the details, but in the old days of boot money in other sports, they always found ways around salary caps. Sponsorship can help and presumably some creative individual accounting helps the player too, but unless clubs are as 'all in' as City with their women's teams, what can they expect. Clubs need a joined up business approach and some are catching up with City. Although we've lost a lot, the Spanish girls look like great additions. Let's hope Super Steph and the new girls can shine on the pitch this season.

Indeed.. England women rained on the gathering Liverpool media parade yesterday, didn't they?!

And not only that, they ensured that the BBC SPOTY Team and Coach Awards for 2022 will be heading in the direction of the women's game, rather than to the home of those loveable, insouciant scallywags beside the River Mersey.

At any rate, I rather doubt that the Scouse Red Filth from the other end of the East Lancs would be celebrating anything to do with England women's success at the Euros. After all, they have spent many, many generations (er.. really?!) informing us of their 'otherness' (again, er.. really?!) compared to the rest of us here in Blighty, given that they are, in fact, 'Scouse' and 'not English'..
