My understanding is that they need to reduce their wage bill to comply with la liga rules.

So even if they sell FDJ for say €80m and we fold and sell Bernie to them for that price, they still have to pay FDJ the deferred wages owed and my guess is that Bernie, being better than FDJ, will get paid at least what he gets - £220/week , so surely they wouldn't be any better off, and probably worse off, financially?

I don't want to bring politics into this but if you remember.. a certain someone lied so many times.. people who couldn't do reasonable thinking started thinking it was true.

Basically propaganda.. repeat a lie enough times that the truth seems like a lie.

You're actually able to do reasonable thinking so you know.. the math doesn't add up. Even with advanced calculus of a payday loan.. the math doesn't add up.

So just trust yourself over these propaganda lies. That's all they are.. meant to unsettle us.

And if you've been a long time City supporter, you heard the same lies about Aguero, David Silva wanting to go to Spain.

Now that Frenkie De Jong is staying at Barca, he'll stay at City for at least another season

I think they’re banking on Chelsea’s desperation bailing them out of the shit, and getting them off the hook on the deferred wages - meaning they pay Bernie less than they were FDJ, clear the debt to the player, and improve their situation on the wage cap all in a single swoop.

Mendes will be pushing this one hard to make it happen for this summer too.

The big question is, how can Bernardo gambles his football career on Barcelona? This whole wage war with the players is a red flag to go there.

Yeah but if Bernie went for less than what FDJ is getting (£220k/wk) then he's crazy.

I can see how this benefits Mendes, one more big payday before his "fee" gets slashed next season.

Agreed, ask him to stay one more season as we are now In a position to win the CL with our new signings, then If we win It he can go after winning everything to be won with City, with our blessings.
 
I still don't believe the hype, but if he wants to go there, then he is either thick or he's being manipulated by his agent.

I can understand players of a certain age, from a country without a recent iconic team, maybe getting all misty eyed, but of all these guys who 'really want to play for Barca', none of them are on peanuts.
DeJong is a great example. 2 years ago.
'I really want to play for you - 300k per week you say! - Dont want to play for you that much'.
'I really want to play for Barca - 500k pw, you say! The money's not important, but ok'.

Did Barca go straight in at 500k (or whatever it is)?

Substitute any other players name you like.
