West Ham United (A) | Sun 7th Aug | Post Match Thread

Not sure about that, he seems to be super confident and relaxed about the whole thing. We may have to adapt for him and maybe let the opposition have the ball a little more so we can spring a break quickly ourselves. That's going to be hard for Pep to do but we may need to do that. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out against teams like Spurs and Arsenal who like a bit of possession themselves.

All the best managers would have seen that game vs west ham and know Haaland is a beast with outstanding pace
100% first thing managers will do when facing that is park the bus defend so deep and protect your goal and keeper

any team playing the high line vs city with haaland in the city team will be facing a thumping, it's that simple

Don't think we were great yesterday tbh, but it's completely to be expected given they've only had 2 pre-season games. It's going to take some time for the lads to get used to the new movement from Haaland, it's completely different to anything we have and actually i don't think we've ever had someone like that (even Aguero). The way he completely commits to runs is completely different. What the lads and Haaland will need to learn is, we don't always have to use that run but it can be a decoy for others who should start making runs as well.

I know there's some people on Twitter saying that Grealish played well, but we need more from him in the final 3rd. Getting the ball, driving and then turning round to lay it back is required sometimes but he really needs to mix it up with driving into the box/line and then following through with a delivery or shot. I wasn't sure about Foden on the right tbh, i know he's played there and done really well before but it seemed to be a bit counter-productive when you have a 6ft 4inch giant in the middle.
Grealish is doing exactly what pep wants keeping the ball and dragging players out of position opening up spaces for others. The 2nd goal yesterday is a classic example.

I can actually understand the fans of other clubs say that it's boring to watch City when all they see is the small segment of the pitch that's shown on TV. What they don't get to watch is the movement of the players to create the space for others to pass the ball as another player comes in to fill that gap. It's metronomic at times. It's like we're performing a play called Death by a thousand passes. We've just taken football to new levels and long may it continue.
I don't get why people find it 'boring'. I like the strategy of the setup and the movement of the players to creat space. I guess that's why I hate the typical English hoofball over the top game. I mean' what's the point of having a midfield if you're going to play like that.

I watched Liverpool v Fulham and their only ‘tactic’ when they went behind was to hoof the ball up to Salah and hope he could cut inside and shoot.

It was boring and predictable and Fulham dealt with it pretty well.

I will watch it because I have been watching city since I was 4 years of age, season ticket holder in North stand, season ticket holder at coms/ etihad, yes heat first game etc, but we have played like this for a long time now, yes we have won trophies I get it, but sometimes it Is like watching paint dry, under mancini we were good and a joy to watch, these days it seems more about retention of the ball, can't argue with what we have won, but some days it seems tedious to watch
Mate get a fucking grip

The only thing that is “tedious” about watching cIty is the opposition sticking 10 men around their penalty box for 90 minutes. That’s what forces us to play the possession game to open up gaps.

Wow, yesterday was a master class in total football, it was an amazing watch to see the team handle a difficult match, in difficult conditions so comfortably.

We made football look easy, something it very much isn't.

I personally couldn't give two fucks if other fans find our football boring, we know its fkn awesome as do all the pundits.
I bet if you asked those fans who is the worlds best manager most would say Pep.

They don't find it boring. It's the popular thing to say from fans who have just seen their team completely outplayed and outclassed. There's nothing else they can throw at us

Pretty sure I've never heard a knowledgeable pundit say its boring to watch
