It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Good man Pep. Good man. And then one more player. Two if Bernie goes. You know it makes sense.

I think he meant what exactly was said in the interview not the tweet. They have a habit of only posting snippets which make a story ready completely different to what was actually said, perfect example the Bernardo interview this week!
Yep and if they asked him the question exactly as was said in the tweet it’s possible he’s misunderstood it. His English is excellent but not perfect.

Didn’t see the press conference, but if that was the wording of the question (are Man City discounting signing another left back), is it possibly a language issue and Pep thought the gist of the question was “are Man City (unfamiliar word) signing another left back?”, to which he immediately said no?

I'm always amazed by the complete disregard for English being (at best) a second language for the majority of players and managers when being interviewed by journalists.

You'll have some lad from Ecuador who's been in the country two months and the journalist asking questions full of idioms, phrasal verbs, tortured verb structures, conditionals, slang etc.

Instead of "Were you pleased with your performance?" you'll get "You've put on a clinic out there today, where would you rank that outing in your hypothetical top 10, assuming you'd keep track of that sort of information, Antonio?"

The another left back question was supposed to be under embargo which means we didn't get to see his full reply/clarification.

Pep was asked if he was ruling out signing another left back for the season after signing Sergio Gomez? Pep immediately replied no.
Can guarantee Pep thought he was being asked if we’re buying another. They don’t always use the wisest words when asking him stuff.
