100 years since Michael Collins was shot at Béal na Bláth in West Cork by his own people.

I wonder how different the last 100 years would have been between The Repubic (Free State), The North East, (Northern Ireland) and the rest of Britain, had he lived.

You’d think it would be safe to examine that period after objectively by now, but some down here still prefer to just close the book and move on unquestioningly.

There was a good program on RTE last night doing a modern post mortum chaired by Dr. Marie Cassidy.
Re enacted an inquiry which never happened at the time, cross examining all the relevant characters including De Valera.

Very good.

If by some miracle the people of NI get a referendum vote would they vote for their own independence should it be on the paper?

Hell, maybe Wales would even want to join us FUCCers when they see how much fun we’re having.

Not a good idea imo as Alex says struggle to govern as it is. The main parties are so far apart nothing would ever be agreed. More for the fact the 'other side' put it forward so we are saying no than its a good or bad idea.

If we signed a national treaty with the EU before we join it would be the FUCCEUNT.
