I would imagine that's why they are striking to prevent change to the contracts. Its human nature I guess not to give up a good thing. They can not be possibly striking because 60k for 38 hours a week is below the minimum wage . I stand corrected if wrong but the job adverts I've seen previously were very lucrative.
Even if they were contracted to weekends the are still under staffed, that says a lot if they are earning those sort of wages, lots of these companies are run on overtime, so even if they dont recruit more and the drivers still say ok I’ll work weekends but no ore than my hours you’d still have lots of trains cancelled.I would imagine that's why they are striking to prevent change to the contracts. Slightly off topic, but not that much. I've been trying to work out how to get up from London for the derby, if Avanti are simply not running (at present no trains announced for any weekends, except that I see they're running tomorrow). One way is to go up via Sheffield. Anybody been taking the Transpennine recently? I ask because when I've passed through Piccadilly recently, that doesn't seem to be entirely reliable. Is Northern more reliable than Transpennine, or can I rely on the latter?
Avanti have various different industrial disputes with their staff that I'm aware of.
Their management are the biggest bullying bastards on the railway and that's saying something. They could almost be the test bed for what Schapps wants.
Imposition of illegal rostering has led to a spike in staff sickness because they are fatigued by them. Morale is lower than a snakes belly with a workforce feeling bullied. The sooner they have their contact ripped up the better. Their attitude is pure profit over any kind of service.
Can't advise on that but I had some friends come up to Manchester from London a few weeks ago when there was a strike on and they changed at Stafford. Booking it as two separate journeys/tickets. Transpennine are dreadful, they've been having multiple cancellations outside of strike days. I was waiting for a different train at Picc recently and two TPE cancellations were announced in quick succession.Slightly off topic, but not that much. They need to employ enough drivers instead of trying to do things on the cheap and rely on OT/Good will.Transpennine are dreadful, they've been having multiple cancellations outside of strike days. Possibly CrossCountry then West Midlands. Yeah, it wasn't cheap (around £75 I think they said) but every other route was in the hundreds of pounds due to the strike so it was by far the best option that day.Cheers. Which company? And didn't it work out horribly expensive, doing that?
Stop being so miserable. One an hour, luxury. I want to go from Sydney (the real capital if Australia) to Canberra (the pretend capital) I can go at 8.05am 12 noon or 5pm.
That's it.
Thanks goodness Boris got his wish with the bridge as part of the new trade deal with Australia. That’s because they have one train and one line of track. You have to wait until it comes back.
Once they train up Kangaroos to drive trains there won't be a problem though.
Beardy was suiing the government over NHS contracts at the time. This was their way of telling him to fuck off.Never quite understood according to what criteria Virgin lost the deal. I did that run Euston to Piccadilly and back many times. I don't remember any cancelled trains, and they were rarely late. They were o.k., by and large.
