Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Not the best performance though if KDBs free kick is inches lower we win.

We don’t have a divine right to win games and we will have off days. Our players are not machines.

We are unbeaten at the start of the season and a manager who 3 titles in four years knows what he’s doing.

We had our chances in the second half, didn't take em and we got lucky, really really lucky we didn't lose 2-1. Their 2nd goal was not offside at all but the whistle was blown beforehand. Otherwise VAR would have given it.

I have no idea what Pep was trying out there. 1st half Walker was seeing far too much ball (again). 2nd half we are in complete control and Pep fucks about again.

Why/how does Mahrez end up on the pitch for Bernie? It absolutely stank of Pep thinking the game was won and ‘oh, we better give Mahrez some minutes’. He took off our legs when we were in complete control of the game and we ended up looking dead on our feet. Gundo (fucking woeful) should have come off, Bernie in the middle and Alvarez on to keep our legs on the pitch.

Make no mistake, Villa were fucking turd and we have thrown away 2 points by Peps stupid fucking subs.

Far too slow, too sloppy, too relaxed, everyone waiting for the game to come to them, lack of application, lack of energy, some very fucking poor decision making, and helped out by a terrible decision by the officials/VAR to disallow Villa’s winner.
I mean let's nip this one in the bud quickly before it becomes the official narrative. VAR had nothing to do with it and by the time Coutinho shot, our entire team had already stopped playing, making no effort to block or save it.

1. Poor passing, especially in the first half.

2. Poor finishing.

3. Poor subs by Pep. Mahrez for Bernie, okay that's fine to give Mahrez minutes. Ake for Walker to go back 3 is fine, but leaving Foden on when he was playing poor was a bad idea. Should have 100% rewarded Alvarez' performance from last game and get him on, go 3-5-2 to play to our strikers.

4. Pep changing us from the last game was a bad idea, Walker and Cancelo played inverted for so long. What happened to the last game where Cancelo was wide, and Foden played inside. Foden looked so lost staying wide all game.

He spent more time in the centre circle than in his actual position. For some reason Pep has looked at our team and decided that every move needs to start with our least skilful player. It's bonkers.
Walker was playing in a back 3 when we were defending. Cancelo was the inverted FB today. If people are unable to see that....
