Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Walker should not be played in midfield. It isnt working as he's not good enough on the ball. That's not his skillset. If Pep wanted a rightback who can go into midfield we should have bought one or play Cancello there.

Also Foden has settled into being a system player.

Gets the ball and immediately passes backwards. No creativity, vision or drive to his play anymore.

I suppose it means less chance of losing the ball which is what Pep wants.

Cancelo looks like he can’t be arsed defensively this year. Disappointing to drop points against them from a winning position. Why change the shape from Weds?

But if we had scored our chances and won 3-1 absolutely no one would be questioning Pep. All on the players today.
The only thing on Pep, is that we sometimes find it hard to understand how he allows people stay on the pitch, who are consistently under performing.

We all would have loved to see something more urgent and direct up front. i.e. Alvarez.

I don’t think Pep is sacrificing the league for the CL as someone suggested. I think he just looks at the overall situation with the squad and has a whole season picture in his head. We just look at the game we are watching, but I think he looks at the the season and calculates how he will win the lot. That’s his use of the squad.
He hasn’t done it yet (won the lot) but he’s not been too far off.
We’re always there or there anouts at the business end.

It’s frustrating watching us drop what seems like unnecessary points to Villa and Newcastle but who would bet against us winning the league come next May.

Is it me, but every time the opposition shoot at Eddy I think it's going in. The goal that was wrongly given offside, he was so week wristed it was a pathetic effort from him.
It’s just you and a few twitter trolls.

He had no chance with their goal, saved a one on one and didn’t save an offside goal because the whistle had already gone.
