Potentially no Premier League matches until October!
You can bet your bottom dollar the prem league would only want one weekend cancelled, two would cause serious problems for the seasonCan understand games being called off on the day (or even weekend) of her funeral, but to potentially postpone all football over two weekends (and midweek) would be a bit excessive imo. Possibly unworkable too, with an already packed schedule due to the World Cup.
When have the fans mattered mate, neverAnnounced tomo morn if on or not. Possibly means they going ahead as surely if gonna call them off do it asap so fans can sort out

Where did you see that?Potentially no Premier League matches until October!
There is only this weekend and next left with games in September. If the Funeral is as expected next Saturday and this weekends are cancelled the Derby would be our next match.Where did you see that?
International break in 2 weeksWhere did you see that?
Nowhere. I’m just speculating that with 10 days of mourning there might be no games. Then it’s the international break. There’s no announcement yet or anything. Journos saying an announcement tomorrow morning is expected re: this weekend’s games.Where did you see that?

Cheers — I assumed that is what you meant but wanted to see if I had missed an annoucement.Nowhere. I’m just speculating that with 10 days of mourning there might be no games. Think you could be right.Potentially no Premier League matches until October!
The death of Princess Diana was a much bigger news story. The whole world mourned. You are very much in the minority. It’s arguably the biggest news story in decades and will have a major impact on the UK. Football is pretty irrelevant to most people as well. Don’t know whether it will be cancelled or not though
Except all those that have their livelihoods partially or wholly dependent on the football being played, most of which are already struggling amidst an economic crisis. You are very much in the minority. “Most of the country”? Says who and on what basis? Most of the country couldn’t care less if football is on or not this weekend. Don’t think that’s an exaggeration.
The queen passing away is huge. Not saying I agree with postponing, but was bound to happen
Slightly different circumstances or am I totally misrememberingThe death of Princess Diana was a much bigger news story. The whole world mourned.
How often would that conversation crop up?Until today, I have very rarely met anyone who professed a deep love for The Queen. Now, I discover that my true love, City, might not be playing this weekend. Granted, I am not a royalist, but cancelling the weekend's games is ridiculous. What's more, I daren't post this anywhere else.
I will have you know that most weeks I asked all of my friends, "Who here loves The Queen and the monarchy?" Nobody replied in the affirmative. How often would that conversation crop up?
'Why is Pep starting Ake? Bet he doesn't love the Queen as much as us two.'
