Do you actually believe what you are writing ?. We have never lost a ruling monarch so the people and country do not know how to react this is the biggest national even in my life time and I’m 52 . Can you babe anything bigger ?

I`m sure mass-hysteria will kick in.

I`m sorry for the old girl but she`s had a good life. 96 years of relatively good health and fantastic wealth. I`m sure there will be some that get carried away and treat the Queens death akin to a death in the immediate family, but not me.

1 minutes silence before the kick off against Spurs in The Etihad would I think be respectful, add to that a day of mourning for the funeral should suffice.

Anything like cancelation of everything and anything would be just pandering to the folk who have a slim grasp reality. I`m sure some would like everyone to by a gallon bucket to fill it with crocodile tears.

I feel vaguely sympathetic at her death but nowhere nearly as sad as I would for some old person in poverty who dies on their own.

this is what sets us apart from most other countries in the world, tradition and history, you may not like it but take that away and we end up like America.

It's interesting that you mention America because they could probably hear my eyes roll from across the Atlantic.

Tradition and history does not set us apart from most other countries. What an absurdly scouse thing to say.

Not to mention, traditions aren't inherently good and worth keeping. Especially when half a country doesn't give a shit.

I've got a guilty pleasure, and that's the morning show on TalkSport with Alan Brazil. Only this morning it's not Alan Brazil, it's Natalie Sawyer, and everyone sounds like it's their own mother who has died. Tony Cascarino has just insinuated that the death would have had an impact on the United players, and could therefore understand their result last night.

Stop the world, it's time to get off.

The same United team with a foreign owner, manager and only 1 English player in the starting 11

Surely we should be celebrating a lady who lived to such a great age as 96 and not mourning.

2 minutes applause with the clubs putting on a big show before kickoff would surely be more apt than crying alone at home.

Crazy.

Slept on it. Still pissed off. What a load of antiquated, self important bollocks.

Surely this whole cancellation of comedy events thing is a piss take? Feel like I'm at risk of getting waterboarded by MI6 if I walk around town with an inappropriate amount of pep in my step.
Chris Morris was a prophet not a comedian. Straight from Brass Eye, all this. Compulsory mourning is like something from North Korea.
If people want to avoid everyday life because someone they never met has died then fine, crack on.
But why expect everyone else to buy into this anachronistic nonsense?
People are likely going to freeze to death or starve in this country this winter yet we are being asked to tug our forelocks for a family of billionaires

are So maybe we should all just get on tik tok and say fuck it then. You don’t think after 70 years she deserves some respect? I’m afraid youre in a minority there, unless of course youve been out polling the nation this morning. For what it’s worth I’d like the sport to carry on and have a minutes silence before the match, of course if you want to sing City through that let’s see how far you get in before you get filled in.

You need to add that most ." Traditions of state" are recent additions, or fabrications of fact just that people don't realise it. Just part of social construct they would like us to believe.

Premier League have yet to make a decision on the football tomorrow that was published by Sky News an hour ago.
Personally I think the Premier League will want the fixtures to go ahead. Too much money involved in football for postponing games, Plus the schedule is already fucked so absolutely no way to fit these games in.

Any idea when a decision will be made? It’s already extremely short notice for those who have paid for flights/trains/hotels etc. Hopefully common sense will prevail, and the games will go ahead. The fact that they didn’t announce it last night, when they confirmed that today’s games would be postponed, makes me slightly optimistic.

Any idea what happens with tickets sold on ticket exchange? Couldn’t make it this weekend but I guess whoever bought my ticket will still have it for the rescheduled match?

Those saying we dont cancel things, that’s your opinion, but this is what sets us apart from most other countries in the world, tradition and history, you may not like it but take that away and we end up like America. These things don’t happen often so giving up a few hours of your life on Saturday is that too much to ask? Spurs can be fitted in later on in the season. Sometimes things are bigger than sport.

Alternatively, the monarchy is archaic and outdated. Tradition and history alone aren't justifiable reasons to keep doing something.

By all means, cancel your own plans and grieve as you see fit. The royal family means nothing to me and after a shit week of work I was really looking forward to going to the match.

That was my logic too, easy to knee jerk last night whereas upon reflection by this morning I’d expect sporting events to continue over the weekend. Hope so anyway.

Don't know if it's already been posted but after the death of George VI on 6th February 1952, football went ahead 3 days later on the 9th. That was an era when deference to royalty was much greater than it is today.

The Queen isn't more important to me than City. I'd imagine that's the case for thousands of others.

And given that times are hard, not just for people but for businesses, I can't imagine many refunds are going to be handed out by hotel chains, train companies, etc. in the event that the game is postponed.

So what are we all supposed to do? If you want to stay at home and mourn HM then that's fine but the rest of us want to crack on.

Fingers crossed
Shelled out over 300 quid
Might get some back but it's a pain

Just thinking about Alan Brazil & the Bob Monkhouse "misunderstanding" (two different stories) I dont think Mr Brazil will be allowed anywhere near a microphone for a while yet :-) oops did it again :-(
