I was 5 when he died, his death I don't remember. However, I do have a flash of memory of the coronation in 1953. I had no idea why we were having a party in the street, but to a 5-year old, from a poor Jewish family in Cheetham, a table full of sandwiches, cakes and pop, created a memory that I've retained for 70 years - as well as the 1956 cup final.

Think maybe what people are forgetting is that there may be inadvertently a big prescence of people congregating in city centres etc that may divert the police designated for football games/sports events so it could be a factor.

If the games go ahead then the Brighton chairman is gonna look like an even bigger C**t for cancelling a game due to a "proposed" rail strike which can easily be negotiated by match attending fans!

FWIW I think we should play tomorrow with all of the respectful silences / National Anthem / Black armbands etc. However if we don't and it is postponed I will understand and won't be throwing my toys out of the pram or kicking off about it being a disgrace.

I think I can understand postponing this weekend's games, as the announcement was late Thursday.

Cancelling the weekend, midweek and next weekend all seems very over the top.

Imo go ahead with this weekends game and midweek CL (as will be a nightmare to rearranage that - have to be Jan)? - and cancel next week if the funeral is sunday/Monday?

As others said, sport would divert a lot of resources for example police in London
