Chelsea-Liverpool, United-Leeds, Brighton-Palace all off, rest of the games on (pg 128)

If the funeral is a week on Monday as expected, why are people saying next week fixtures will be off?

Understanding and empathy you say? There seems to be a distinct lack of this for the deceased on this thread. Show some respect yourself
I don't think you're replying to the right post here, where is the disrespect in my post to anyone other than your good and humble self?

I dont see why football cant be played. My Industry is carrying on and I am still working this weekend. Dont see why footballers cant work this weekend.

I hate to say it but is football being postponed because one group of fans who boo the National Anthem ?
Black armbands, minutes silence /applause, singing the national anthem would have been a greater tribute and mark of respect rather than wholesale postponement, especially in a season that is going anyway to have to be very tightly scheduled because of the ridiculous timing of this world cup.
Postponement on the day of the funeral would have been a lot more logical and understandable.

Just think this by the time this hullabaloo has finished it will be time for the poppy fascists to get going. Then it’s the World Cup in Qatar, what a fucking mess.

But what purpose does it actually serve to postpone the games? Beyond some vague nonsense about 'respect' and it being 'the right thing to do', what's the actual practical, real-world purpose of postponing the games? I'm genuinely curious.
Vague nonsense about respect?

One day you (or anyone) will want respect for your personal loss or grief, even from the people you don't like, we would all expect that.

I just think you can't expect respect if you can't give it.

A lot of people are actually mourning the loss, a day of no football doesn't cost anything but it does respect the occasion. As boring as it is .

The FA/PL made a hasty decision and I think it has backfired the best way for football to show respect was like West Ham and Utd did last night. Many sports around the world have held a minutes silence and I found them touching. I am a monarchist and the way the West Ham fans sang the anthem because they wanted to is a genuine show of respect not cancelling games at the last minute and I really can't see the logic behind this its not as if they had to follow a protocol.

It's a very silly decision,it makes no sense on any level.

The clowns in the FA are so out of touch with reality. This was an opportunity for millions to pay their respect that has been foolishly missed.
