Just hope they aren’t too humiliated by this, as I don’t think that's in anyone’s best interests. They need to be given a path to rehabilitation.

Just don’t want to keep rubbing it in. Like you say, it’s rehabilitation that’s needed long term.
Their defeat in Afghanistan was the final nail in the USSR coffin. Maybe this would be the final nail in the current Russian coffin?
