the sending of arms is only prolonging this war, and causing the death of more people. The sanctions are counterproductive and causing even more distress. There needs to be another way around this, even if it means in the short to medium term in accepting things as they are.

The collapse of the Iron Curtain shows us that things can change at bewildering speed. I agree, that culturally many Russians conspicuously lack the ability to engage in objective thought and are more intellectually dishonest than other peoples, but this is founded upon decades of state sourced propaganda to which they have been subject.

Perhaps a wholesale exposure of this will precipitate a cultural recalibration.

I certainly hope so.

I was just saying to the wife last night how ridiculous it is that I go onto a football forum to find out what is happening in the most important event of current times.

I don't do Twitter so this thread is my source of news, while the BBC has 200 stories about the Queen and no space or bandwidth for anything much else. And even if it does report on the Ukraine War it is already out of date and so wishy washy that it hardly actually says anything. I even confess to following the Russian Invasion thread on RedCafe, as even that is far ahead of BBC or other mainstream news channels.

I share your hopes and dreams but...the generation that grew up in the soviet era were brainwashed, probably the same as us in the west, they will never change their beliefs. The hope is with the younger generation who have had more exposure to the world
