The silver jubilee was a huge event and your newspapers sold you a tale of the monarchy's unquestionable value and greatness. If you are now under thirty, you probably don't read newspapers; you won't have lived through any event where monarchy was essential to your life; and you are surrounded by media critical of colonisation and privilege.

Plenty of youngsters enjoying themselves and celebrations up and down the country.

Most people don’t think about the monarchy day to day and but like having it there, as people get older their opinions change and I still think it’ll be approved of by the majority in future.

The only people bringing up colonisation now are trying to push an agenda, it’s been over for a long time and nobody was alive the last time Britain colonised anywhere.

Plenty, yes, but the majority disinterested. There was a party in my street that was attended by a few older neighbours. I'm sure you will agree that it bore no comparison to the national event of the silver jubilee

I wouldn’t go that far I have two youngsters who I’ve brought up hopefully with respect with with what we have . There’ll grow up with their own views, but hopefully if they or their generation don’t agree with the monarchy there’ll respect it or acknowledge it.

Thousands gathered and partied in towns right across the country, millions watched the coverage.

People like a party and to celebrate things and that won’t change, even if the Queen was more respected than the new King, he’s still popular.

Celebrity culture continues to grow so imo people will still be interested in 35 years time.

I love history, learning both the good and bad parts and think everyone should learn our past, warts n all!

However, the only colonising that’s relevant now is what that Putin bastard is doing in Ukraine.

I think it is.

I’d think that getting to an opinion meant reading and learning about it and after that he came to the conclusion that it wasn’t vital to him. Pity more don’t do the same.

It’s clearly true that people do traditionally get a bit more conservative the older they get. But I don’t think people change as much as a lot of people perceive. It’s kind of being “proved “ that grumpy old men were nearly always grumpy young men for example.

I can’t really see too many people spending most of their lives being anti monarchy or indifferent to it, suddenly becoming huge royalists when they get older.

It’s true plenty of people enjoyed the Platinum Jubilee but as the other guy says, from memory I’m pretty sure it was nowhere near the level of the Silver one.

The worst thing that I think could happen in terms of public opinion on the monarchy is a lack of caring either way.

There’s always going to be far more pressing and serious things to sort out, people are much more likely to be focused on the government
