Incorrectly ruled out as mentioned above.

VAR missed Candreva near the corner flag.

Not that I give a fuck about Juventus but it's a bit of a howler.

This is the VAR equivalent of Roy Carroll scooping the ball out of his net with the ball a yard over the line.

Whoever was on VAR needs either a year’s retraining or another job.

Common sense ? Booking someone for taking his shirt off is not common sense. It is a stupid rule brought in by idiots. It started when players had sponsors names under their shirts, rather than deal with that one problem, they went at it with a steam hammer.
They are taking all the emotion out of the game.
Re the Var. It seems a correct decision and yet it is being argued about in Italy, saying he was in fact onside. So var hasn't decided anything.
See MCFC’s post above, there was another player that VAR missed.

They drew the lines using the wrong defender. Inept.

Ref gave that decision against Micah in the semi at anfield so with or without VAR it has been awarded.
The handball rule is different in England than it was then. If Michah did that now at Anfield, it wouldn‘t be a penalty in the League Cup, but would in a CL semifinal.

Sorry yes I saw that after posting. A perfectly good, match winning goal chalked off by an Var and his never wrong computer.
Who'd have thought it.
I'm so suprised I've had to sit down.

It’s probably the worst VAR decision I have seen since it came in.

Where does it sit for you in the inept vs manipulated/corrupt?

Has this image knocking about on Twitter of the guy near the corner flag playing the Juventus player on being verified as been “real”? Sky have been showing the incident this morning and not even mentioning it, which seems a bit odd.

Yeah, Sky Italia were made aware of it after the game and they measured the distances to the goal line.

Candreva was playing Bonucci on by about half a metre.

Just seems a bit odd why Sky England have been talking about the game all morning with no mention of it. Even the Italian “expert” journalist they had on was still talking about it being the correct decision earlier.

If it was England I'd said not corrupt, as its Italy definitely :-)
The sad thing is it is not inept, it is way past that, bordering on 'never be allowed near a monitor again'.
The machine/computer/screen is only as good as the person using it. That is the issue I have always had in this country with var. The referees are so poor I have little faith in them, with or without the video. I do not agree with PGMOL as a unit. That basically says to the Premier League who is in charge, them. They do not need to improve or change. We are stuck with them.

To err is to be human…

Not sure why there is a picture of Jimmy Stewart either.
I remember that quote from " poetry" at school alright.
It’s from Roman times. I’m not a film buff by any stretch of the imagination. Thanks for letting me know who he was. I tried to get the reference, but can’t.

@Alan Harper's Tash as well: I thought Jimmy Stewart was known for interjecting "err" into his speech patterns often and randomly. I may be wrong. Was a long time ago .....

Sorry for the FOC reference.

Edit : Now I think about it, it may have been Morecambe & Wise who planted that seed in my ageing brain with "to err is human, to err err err is Jimmy Stewart". Or not. Who the fuck cares?
