When / why did you become a City fan?

Some of my ancestors immigrated to the United States from Britain over a century ago. The part of my family that came from Britain to the United States was from Manchester. I knew when I got interested in the Premier League about a decade ago that I wanted to support a team from Manchester. Ultimately, I went with City because the club felt a bit like an underdog trying trying to overthrow the establishment to achieve greatness. I wanted to be apart of that process.

The exact moment I became a city supporter. Tommy Hutchison, not the first goal, but the own goal. I don’t know why but it just clicked with me. I married city that day, till death do we part and it’s been fu**ing glorious.

My dad took me to my first game as an 8 year old to see City v Villa in April 1959. City were shit, Villa were shit and the game was shit. It ended 0-0 but it was enough to keep City ticking along and they eventually avoided relegation and it was Villa that went down. But I was hooked.

My dad was the reason i became a blue he followed francis Lee from bolton to city when he was younger. He took me to my first game and that was in 2002 we played swindon and won 2 nil.

9pm on Friday 29 September 1967. Hope Hospital maternity ward. That season we went on to win the league! :-)

Moved to Manchester in September 1984. Had to support the “underdog”. First match watched was Manchester City v Blackpool in September 1984 in the Milk Cup. We won, got the programme and been a Blue since then.

December 2001, my old man is a die hard Grimsby fan and used to take me along, City rolled into town, the away end was absolutely rammed with blues and made noise the whole 90 minutes... I left blundell park that day thinking Danny Tiatto was god and had my 1st blues shirt the following week.

First game of the season. It was a 1-1 massacre and quite incredible we escaped with a point even though they scored right at the death. I did win on a bet as Flitcroft first scorer.

It was the first game I’d ever been to my best mate’s dad took us …I remember when we were making are way out of the ground giving the Leeds fans shit then they scored the twats haha

My dad was the reason, took me to my first game at maine road in the late 90s, no clue who we played, I wasn't even interested in football to be honest but my dad was one of them. He kept taking me anyway, think i just enjoyed spending time with him and my love for city grew out of that. This is the oldest picture I have, have non from maine road sadly, Think it was against Wigan FA Cup 2006

Fuck, I've been rumbled. Have to be honest here, I was a Chelsea fan up to that point. Super Frankie Lampard, "captain, leader, legend" JT, Didier Pogba etc etc. But all the guff about the "project" intrigued me.

My first game was stood in the Kippax, last game of the season v Sunderland.
Think they were fighting relegation, they had all the platt lane and some of the Kippax.
Marco Gabbiadini scored for them and i think we won 3-2
Or i may have got 2 games mixed up it was that long ago

In 1951 when I was four we moved from Yorkshire to Manchester and somebody asked me whether I supported City or united. I didn’t know what the word united meant but I did know what city meant. Been a Blue ever since.
