A few months ago I'd have agreed with this. Mar-a-Lago though has changed my mind: the evidence against Trump is both overwhelming and obvious, the case against him is easy to understand, and failure to bring charges would result in widespread loss of confidence in the justice system.

Charges will be brought against Trump - because they have to be.
I agree. There is a long list of potential crimes but most are either complex or relatively minor. I can see why the DoJ don't want to after him on something like that. The risk of failing in court, the consequences re the Trump narrative if he were to win.

But the docs scandal is a gift. Simple, easy to prove and serious enough to not let it go. Already in court his lawyers are failing to justify why he should possess these docs in an attempt to stall the process. Its been a bad move on their part as they have shown their hand. They have nothing.

I also think once this moves forward it opens the door to the complex cases. Primarily the Jan 6th insurrection.

Nothing will happen to him, again, ever. Trump will probably get in again in a couple of years. He is the worst of everybody you dont like and all the people you avoid all in one. Modern day wankers have created an old wanker who they want to represent them
Poll of Florida GOP voters had Trump ahead of DeSantis for the Rep nom by 7 points at the beginning of the year. Now? DeSantis ahead by 8. The best possible thing that can happen is that Trump runs to avoid prosecution and claims investigation is “political”. He’d split the party in two and probably end up running as a 3rd party candidate if he lost the nom. Eventually when his political escapism is finished, DOJ if a Dem is President will go after him both barrels. Then he’ll pull a Weinstein and claim to be mentally and physically unfit to stand trial.

Will it fuck
Tax AND insurance AND bank fraud.

It’s not hard to prove.

There’s paper. Like the classified documents.

And his signatures on tax returns, insurance forms and loan docs.

He and/or his company is going to get done over. It may take awhile. Even if he dies, the TO lives on through its officers.

Obviously this is why he never wanted his tax returns publicly released, as many people here said many, many moons ago.

Won’t they just put in counter claims and ignore the writs?

Any chance he gets the death penalty?

And then we get to organise a sweepstake on which fast food restaurant he will choose to provide his last meal.

Do you think the Republican's would call Trump's bluff if he said he'll run as a third party candidate and spend another four years in opposition? Or is winning the presidency, by any means necessary all that matters to them?

Would be very interesting to see how many votes the Republicans lose to Trump, and if Trumps figures are low would the right-wing media pivot away from him and his nonsense.

The other scenario is votes are evenly split and it either destroys the party or they realise they'll never win an election again without him and he's welcomed back to the fold.
