2022 World Cup Discussion

It's going to be fun in many households over here in the US as the Thanksgiving holiday falls during the WC. This is traditionally the day for eating turkey and watching Football (the American variant). There are a few games scheduled for that day, including Brazil v Serbia. So many of the older guys will be wanting to watch fucking Dallas or Detroit (who always play on Thanksgiving Day) whereas the younger more football mad people will be watching the "sawcker". Mind you, of course for the large swathes of Brazilians/Portuguese especially where I live, there will be no contest. SHould be fun anyway. And the day after Thanksgiving, aka Black Friday, is a holiday for most and that is when Engerlund play the USA. So that one will have a huge audience.
Where the fuck are you from that anyone pronounces it, "sawcker." Please don't just say "the U.S." or "America". I understand that from your post.

Quite looking forward to it, England’s games are good excuse for a day out in a bar
Just hope we manage more than 3 days out :/

+1
So much talent though on many European sides - maybe one of France, Belgium, Spain, Germany, England will pull it together and play up to their potential. Otherwise I guess it's either Brazil or Argentina to win it all.
Belgium’s golden generation last chance.

My gut feel is that due to the heat and lack of atmosphere it will be a very dull competition. The most workmanlike / professional team will win it. Could be very open but not in an interesting way.
Its not going to be that hot is it, far milder Qatar in NOV/DEC than say the summer tournaments in Spain 82, Mexico 86, Italia 90, USA 94, France 98, etc etc etc

Let's just have all of City's players eliminated in the group stage. I'm for a Brazil (Ederson is a backup so he's fine), Mexico, France and Croatia semifinals.

Dont remember any of this going on when big tournaments are held in the USA. Their human rights is just as bad. From invading other countries to having the right to carry guns and shot each other. For police brutality against non white Americans.

Why isnt football taking a stand against America ?

Taking the knee came from America

The silence is deafening yet we welcome American owners into the premier league. It's all abit two faced for me

Have to say, I have absolutely zero interest in this World Cup. An absolutely ridiculous and most likely corrupt decision to hold it there and even worse in the middle of the football season.
I wish no City players were involved.
My view as well. The reasons I love most WCs is that they are a summer time thing. The season is over, you forget your club for a wile and in a drought of football you will happily watch random countries play. I have no interest in watching football in a desert mid season.

Absolutely loved the World Cup up to and including France 1998...Granted it was at a time when it allowed me to watch football other than the painful experience of watching City back then, but in 1998 I lived in the pub during the World Cup and had a great time during it.
In 2002 they started arseing around with mid morning kick offs (and yes I understand that Japan and Korea deserved to host it) and I lost the appetite. No games in the pubs they were all over by teatime. I never got it back after that timed with the detestable overrated England teams of the "Golden Generation" and I fell out of love with international football for good. And yes this is now made easy by spending all my footie energy supporting a City team which is fairly good.
All I am interested in is City players not getting injured.

Have given this thought and have decided to blank it - bought by corruption - enabled by virtual slave labour - fucking all leagues over just to fit it in. Whoever wins it and I don't care who there should always be an asterisk against it in the record books
