What about Arsenal? They're basically city lite and they never did some weird reshuffling for their formation.

One thing with Arteta management style he goes for it from the off he doesn’t want his team to slow the game down be patient Arsenal get the ball and go out opponent’s from the of and keeps going after them!

On Pep yet again. Big game bottler. Why oh why did he not have Grealish running at Milner? KDB not being used where he’s Most influential. Our goal was definitely a foul. Hate it when our biased blinkered fans completely ignore what’s right. and how can we leave just one man at the back to defend counter attacks? Scandalous defending.
Big game bottler.

Someone should have blocked Allison off from kicking long, actually a worse error than Cancelo's.

Its a mystery what was going on out there. I never heard Pep sayit but the commentator mentioned in interview how Pep stated City had to be conscious of the long ball.

What happened to Cancelo happened to Dias earlier in the match. When you are last man you dont try and get round the player but keep goal side and hold him up.

We tried this on a few occasions basically turning the duel into a 50/50. That is not on Pep those defenders should either have doubled up or defended differently, but instead, and it happened througout the match, they were going to ground, diving in or trying to steal the ball rather than play percentages.

Latter stages of the Champs lge this will be exposed again like it is every year. Defensively the dominance of the side masks the deficiencies at the back but bites us whenever we face a top side.

But the point being that the champions league doesn't go through Anfield. Not sure what your point is. If it's "would I want to play liverpool in the Midweek Cup". Then the answer is no. But then I don't like playing anyone in that fucking competition..
I dunno, I think I'm saying we could play anyone in the CL, Liverpool being one of them. We can't hope to avoid them at all costs. So if we face them we should have the bottle to bet them but I just don't feel like we have when it comes to the away game.

Tight game. It was an error that cost us. Suicidal defending from Cancelo to dive in when he was last man.

Bizarre from Taylor to stop the game when we were breaking to send Klopp off. He was letting fouls go all game until we scored also, I can see why it got disallowed but it wasn't consistent with his other decisions.

We want shooting getting beat off that shower of shit. Feels a bit like we shot ourselves in the foot by not playing to our strengths.
A forward player should have stopped Allison getting that ball away so quickly. It was obvious that they were going to look for Salah every chance they had.

He had. He had a header completely alone, a 1v1 against Allison, a good pass from KDB that he was not as fast as usual, and a pass from a great Gundo play that he fucked up with his first touch and made his shooting more difficutl. Did you even watch the match?
If you apply those standards to strikers, you’re going to be one unhappy fella for the rest of your life.

The ONLY one he could have done much better with was the left footed shot from the middle of the goal on the edge of the box. It was on his left and he scuffed it. Allison still had to make a full length, one handed save, but if Haaland had caught it right, or even lifted it, it’s a goal.

Give him Firminho’s or Salah’s service today and I think the result is different.

Bernardo and Foden were our best players. Foden should have tried to dribble past Milner, though. Except for Ederson, the other weren't at their best. Haaland missed good chances, Kevin was a bit isolated. Rodri was a bit slow, Cancelo had a mare. Was Gundogan necessary?

Hope people come to appreciate Laporte's contribution to our build-up play. It's a bit laborous without him and Bernardo has to come to our box to help out.

Would rather be in our position than in Liverpool's. Losses provide opportunities to analyse some weaknesses and get better.

Matches against Copenhagen and Villa and Newcastle were off days. Today was a regular day something which we have been witnessing time and again. We will see something similar against Tottenham too. Kane and Son will run circles and Pep will still look helpless

Lol.

Very disappointed with the result and the performance. Get frustrated with Pep in these type of matches, where every man and his dog can see where the issues lie, but Pep sees it differently. I'm a big KDB fan, but think he can be a liability when teams sit back and try to hit us on the break. He tries to force it too often with the killer pass, great when it works but puts us in trouble when intercepted. He kept trying to find Haaland when there were better balls on. I thought he was very poor today and showed a lack of effort to rectify his mistakes. Personally would have hooked him at half time. With Cancelo advancing up the pitch, I think he could have done with someone who would put in a bit of workrate eg. Alvarez, Foden or Bernardo, although I prefer Bernardos workrate to be in the middle of the park, thought he was outstanding second half. Defence got very exposes to a ball over the top. Very poor. Based on todays match alone, we look a long way off a team wanting to try and win everything, however we can have off days and still win the league. Disappointing as we rarely play our best at Anfield but hopefully will be lifting a few trophies at the end of the season. In Pep we trust!

Them long balls are why we miss the pace of Kyle Walker so much.
