If they can somehow squeeze Sunak in, and you can hear the screams of the 'right' already, then he may just get enough support to shore up a 'coalition' cabinet until the next GE. However, much would depend on the size of the disgruntled right he then alienates and whether they'd want to be the ones to topple him. It's all terribly topsy-turvy.

They are too fractured internally for any single PM appointed by themselves to pull them together until the next GE. They would need also to govern in that period and take hold of what they have done, own it and demonstrate good governance - I cannot see how that is even slightly possible

Logically that's the way to go but there's a sizeable section of the parliamentary party that will see it as a "Remoaner" plot and will never accept it. Can't see anything other a total collapse of the government. How that will play out I've no idea.
