Liz Truss

One of many in Westminster undertaking a role that they aren't qualified to do.

Corruption and incompetence of the highest order.

The longer she stays prime minister the worse it's going to get.

This is unfortunately another Brexit 'benefit'. Using loyalty to that idea as the decider for whether someone is offered a cabinet job has left us with such a puddle thin layer of talent that the situation we are in now was pretty much inevitable.

But relaxing immigration ‍♂️.
So cutting taxes is a far right ideology?

Libertarian right - which pretty far right in my opinion. Essentially, equality, fairness or social justice are nothing to do with Govt. If you are poor, disadvantaged etc., then this is your fault and it is up to you to rectify the situation, not the Govt. Benefits are to be discouraged, because people are lazy (benefits to companies are virtuous because they are deserving and ‘create’ wealth). The wealthy shouldn’t pay tax because they are already supporting all the lazy non-wealthy. Health care you pay for, it is not the Govt’s job to keep you healthy or look after you.

The Rwanda scheme is to deter refugees. We have a labour shortage so we need more immigration, but Govt will not pay for the infrastructure to support them (schools, hospitals).

To the Libertarian right, the great majority of people do not matter, hence Truss’s bafflement when people ring in furious about fracking, losing their pensions, or mortgages going up. Truss also thinks it’s better the energy bailout be financed by future growth/generations then imposing a further windfall tax on profits. These companies deserve their profits and you should understand this.

Q: What will you do about small boats crossing the Channel?

Truss says she will stick to the Rwanda plan. She goes on:

What we will make sure is that UK courts can’t be overruled by the European court of human rights.
So we are able to deal with a small boats crisis and the home secretary is determined to get on with that.

So scrapping the human rights bill and outsourcing migrants to Rwanda isn't far right enough for you?

I still hope in two years’ time, they might look like a normal, competent, Conservative government because no Conservative government in my lifetime would ever have made a mistake of this kind.

Can all the economic experts on here please tell me what should be done. All I am reading is what shouldn't be done and what a car crash it is. What would be the right calls to have made.
