The Conservative Party

I don't know mate, I guess it depends on the number of "Loyalist's" he has left if he has a chance to get 100 backers.
Guido Fawkes is keeping a spreadsheet of MPs openly backing candidates - Boris is ahead with 41 already, with Mourdant on just 15. You'd think MPs would be reluctant to publicly come out and back him, but it looks like he might have the early momentum.

Scary stuff.

Apparently the petition for a General Election has over 300,000 signatures!!
It gets debated in parliament and that's the end of that. You would be hoping Tory mps would vote to lose their own jobs. I can't see any scenario where it happens.

As the financial institutions seem to be in charge of policy we may as well give it to a fucking Banker.

Did you make a spelling mistake with the last word there? ;-)
After all they’ve been led by three of them recently! ;-)

The nearest I’ll get to swearing even now!!

Yeah I've just seen it on the Truss thread mate. Really surprised he's leading Sunak tbh. If its Bojo vs Sunak, then Sunak has no chance with the tory members.

But therein lies the rub. Who decides what constitutes an implosion? And of what magnitude must it be before a GE need be called? There is still a chance, slim may it be, that enough Conservatives could get behind Sunak, Mordaunt, and Hunt in a kind of ‘emergency cabinet’.

I’ve had a hunch for a few weeks that the sheer scale of the country’s financial problems are even greater than has been admitted, and that when the figures are finally released at the end of this month, the shock from them will either sink the Conservative ship immediately, or be so frightening that it forces enough of them to coalesce around such a ‘team’ as outlined above. Just my hunch.

I'd say this current situation constitutes an implosion. For me it's a vote of no confidence, they can't agree or run their own party never mind the country. As you rightly say who decides though? It's something that needs looking at

Wouldn’t believe anything Guido Fawkes published on Johnson. Or the Mail for that matter.

And Johnson back in charge when he is up before the Select Committee next month on a charge of misleading the house and half the MP’s hostile to him will just be the same shitshow, as the last shitshow and the one before that when he was in charge last time around.

The Tories have given up as a political party and are just trolling everyone now.

A lot of MPs don't like Sunak - he sank Boris, and spent the last week trying to arrange to replace Truss without any kind of vote. A lightweight who is far too full of himself even for most Tory MPs.

No, they are trying to get out of intense pressure one moment at a a time. It changes the story. Kaz was right, it is at least to some extent a dead cat layed out the moment talk of an imminent general election started to get going.

Apropos of very little, anyone remember Corbyn giving Boris the election he wanted when he was bound to lose?

The narrative was that the guy just got tired of it all. I wonder who in the Tories would tonight push that button, if they were able.

Fucking A!
At a time when our political system appears to all as farcical, when we have had more PMs than we get for a match day stream. When no fucker ever resigned in disgrace to now every fucker is doing it and when this evening the loudest cheer on question time is for political reform what happens?

Fiona fucknut Bruce completely ignores it.
