Do you have a link for that? I know that the original reports were that "they" had Green Cards, and that he admitted it, but I hadn't seen anything where she said she didn't have one.

He did. Not her, it would be impossible for her to hold one and state India was her permanent home. Just Google it mate there is nothing but reports that Sunak himself held a green card from his time working over there. He should have relinquished it on becoming an MP, especially given they will eventually move to India - it seems a silly thing to have done.

I think you misread the post, and so I find the insults a little offensive.

It was in response to SWP's back's post about the Green Card not being a tax saving. I replied saying it wasn't just about tax, but also "keeping their options open".

The post he'd replied to was my first on the subject and also said "That smacks of playing the system to keep your options open and your taxes down.".

So that's not saying that the green card keeps your tax down, or the non-dom keeps your options open. I'm saying that the overall picture is of a family who are thinking, "if this politics thing doesn't work out, the Green Card will come in handy".

Certainly didn’t mean to offend you fella so apologies in that regard.

To be honest if I was in politics I’d be thinking what if this doesn’t work out … especially the speed they come and go these days. The green card was silly to have maintained, and should have been revoked much sooner - I doubt he received any tax benefit from holding it much more likely he would have been penalised and paid more in tax although that’s only based on a passing knowledge of tax liabilities when I lived out there so might be wrong on that.

Just out of interest, why would you rely on dividends instead of just paying yourself a higher salary. Is there some benefit to that?

I did check it out before posting. There are lots of stories about the two of them having green cards, and then lots about him confirming he had one, but where she isn't mentioned. It would have been easier to just say she didn't, but the political fall out of her having one is minimal, so I can understand why they didn't confirm/deny.

Blows my mind that people are still falling over themselves to stick up for billionaires. Seriously, find something worthwhile to care about as they honestly do not give a flying fuck about you.

Absolutely they don’t but I do think majority of politicians want to do good. I think some people (myself included) are only sticking up for them because plenty are having a go about their wealth. Totally irrelevant. Only things that’s matters is his politics, and the only thing that is really relevant to us all is will he be a good PM and guide us through these times. Time will tell.

Not only that, but over £1m of Corbyn's net worth is tied up in the fact that he owns and lives in this house. He would be the first to say that it's totally messed up that the state of the housing market has got us to the point where you're looking at a million to live in a a house as unspectacular as that.

The only way to save the London housing market is to improve the internet around the rest of the country. When people start to cotton on that they can live in a beautiful part of the North, with a lovely house and plenty of land for a third of the price - while working remotely, inner-city housing will crash spectacularly.

No problem - I suspect as the world becomes more interconnected that we will have more "global citizens" (and that's not a euphemism or in any way an insult), getting involved in politics, and I don't have a problem with that.

I do think he should have thought about this coming out before becoming an MP, and keeping the green card till he was Chancellor, even though he was elected in 2015 means he had quite a long time to consider it.

Ultimately the voters will decide how important it is.

Only people who suggested she did was Sky news when the story broke but never mentioned it again, was picked up by a couple of other outlets but again never rumbled on - only that he did which is what he responded to and confirmed he’d had one and revoked it. Thats why I don’t think there has ever been a denial from her. Regardless of the lack of denial it is simply impossible for her to have a green card and simultaneously claim India as her permanent home. That sort of shit ends up with you on a federal charge and facing a long stint in a US prison (you’d also face charges and prison time here).
