Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Could you imagine an entire lower tier of safe standing (apart from the CB stand)? £500 season tickets and £30 admission it would be immense! Those still wishing to sit can move to L3 of expanded NS or expanded ES or CB stands. Everybody is catered for and we get our Kippax back!

As long as you push me up the ramp and carry my oxygen cylinder, no problem.

What happens to those in Level 1 who don’t want to stand

26,000 people used to stand on the Kippax and it wasn’t a problem.(then) Near enough half of Maine Roads 54,000 capacity.
not sure what your point is as that was through choice there are loads of older fans in East Level 1 where do you suggest they go and why should they move

Only the centre of the CB stand.Anyway doubt there are any plans to make either side standing. At most it will be tier 1 of the North and South.
I'm sure there some in the east stand aswell on line with the halfway line at the back 6 rows maybe

Yes, it's all part of the relationship with MCC. If we'd insisted on taking ownership and let them lose their annual windfall in favour of a lump sum going to Sport England, that obviously would have had a far less positive effect on relations between the club and the Council, as you say.

It changed in connection with the proposed expansion and the Etihad naming rights deal. Before then, the rent was calculated as a percentage of the net gate receipts above 34,000, so we were in the very fortunate position of paying only with respect to extra spectators we couldn't have fitted in Maine Road. The MEN reported that in the first 8 seasons in the new ground, we paid GBP 14 million on that basis.

David Conn (whom I consider a twat, but think likely to be right on this) reported that it went up to an annual GBP 3 million of rent for the stadium itself, a flat fee (i.e. irrespective of gates and by how much we extended the capacity). Then he claimed there was an additional GBP 1 million to be entitled to sell the naming rights, which the lease in its original form didn't let us do. The new amount became payable from 2012, IIRC.
Yep any negligible difference in cost is more than worth it in terms of maintaining strategic relationships

Come on. It’s a completely different world. There’s zero chance of standing on the sides at the Etihad. It’ll be in the north and south stands.

Loads of corporate seats in t1, no chance theyll be moved
The club pretty much wants the sides to be premium and the ‘studio audience’ behind the goals. I’m in ES 105 and fully expecting to be fucked off or priced out sooner or later. My seat would be tunnel club if it was other side of the ground and we already get hoofed out for CL group games to make way for UEFA sponsors

And that’s probably one of many reasons why City and MCC get on so well.

I’m still miffed that the Collar Site hasn’t been developed yet nearly 15 years on since MCR (MCC) won the Super Casino bid in 2007, and Sheikh Mansour bought City in 2008. For the Collar site to remain as it is to date is very disappointing.
Indeed. It was the Collar that all the talk was about at first. There was no news of stadium expansion, Metrolink, an indoor arena… all the news was about a casino, Apple World, Ferrari World, a theme park and other daft stuff.

But it was all about that plot of land.

Yet it’s still a baron strip of land that wastes where the Agüero, Kompany and Silva statues are.

And yet we were once the Popular Side at Hyde Road and the Kippax at Maine Road.

I never said they had to move.
I think the club will settle for NSL1 being safe standing along with SSL1. And the rest of the ground will be seating, which will include the NSL2 expansion. An expanded NSL2 should be safe standing in my opinion. If that were to happen, which I doubt, sadly, where would City locate the family stand and the fans who currently sit in NSL1?

Check out this even the NBA basketball stadium in America are copying the Yellow Wall, please watch this video from 2 minutes 21 seconds in where they discuss the The Wall

I assume because to make it a single tier the stand would need to be closed and rebuilt for a season. Seems no point when they could do a large 2nd tier with no closures.
That has been clear from the onset. It hasn’t stopped the ‘usual suspects’ parroting the same argument over and over again for year after year.

There is no way that City will ever agree to lose the North Stand for a year. The likelihood is that the North Stand expansion will essentially mirror that of South Stand.

I do not want to be kicked out of my seat for a year. If it happened I would probably not be back. But hey that doesn’t matter for those who want a ‘Blue Wall’.

We’re not parrots. People are allowed an opinion whether ’YOU’ like it or not. If you don’t like it, don’t read the posts.

Many of us would like a single tier, but overtime the general consensus on this thread has shifted to a double tier. (which I’m happy with)

Regardless, I’m sure those at City who are involved in the NS expansion do read this thread with interest, gauging what the fans would like to see built when the NS is expanded. Hopefully the fans will be consulted and invited to a public consultation so we can look at the plans for the NS expansion in more detail, and so we can speak face to face with people at the club and the architects who are involved in the NS expansion. (I do like a good stadium model) The plans aren’t only for a stand, they will include City Sauare, the Souvenir shop, and the whole area leading to Joe Mercer Way and the Coop Live Arena.

This will probably be the final expansion of the Etihad, so I hope, like many of us on this thread, that the club do involve the fans in the NS expansion plans. And I don’t just mean via a basic email survey.

Makes me laugh when people say they’d stop going even if they had to move for one year. Could understand someone being peed off being permanently shifted for corporate but not something like this and on a temporary bases. Loads in that end don’t even have an u18 with them anymore either. Not saying you are in this bracket but surely your love for watching City overrides a 1 year move of seat?
