I'm just thinking about how the FFP rules brought in by FSG are what's going to stop the club being bought by kind of owner Liverpool fans are desperate for.

I just think the boat has sailed. They may find a buyer, the buyer may invest in the team, but the amount spent/invested must be in relation to how much they can increase the clubs turnover & profit.

When City(and Newcastle) were bought, there was a massive dormant potential for increasing revenue. Both due to the ‘sleeping giant’ concept and the foreseeable increase in revenue from TV rights, CL prize money, etc.

I think all those boats have sailed. Yes, they’ll be incremental increases, but you can’t realize the sort of six fold? increase in turnover that City have achieved in the last 10 years.

Does anyone spend 4bn + 1.5bn? (team, stadium, facilities) knowing they could only hope & pray for a doubling of turnover over the next 10 years, and that’s only possible if they achieve the sort of on field success City have had over the last decade, which will not be possible due to a shortage of elite managers/coaches, and the continued improved competition from City, Arsenal, Newcastle, etc.

Not sure if my picture shows it, but those tv’s aren’t ‘behind the bar’, they are 50’ behind the bar on the other side of the room.

Here’s a different view …

Looks horrific - like the sports equivalent of lying in bed and being fed through a tube

LFC would be a nightmare to own, assuming that one had about 4 billion to invest. Imagine trying to keep their sanctimonious fans happy! Just one wrong word and your name would be mud. And their huge sense of entitlement will never be satisfied unless the team is first or second in the league and doing well in the CL. They are never going to be grateful. Any success will be down to Klopp and the team, and shortcomings down to the owner.

Then the question arises - how could you grow this business to make a profit? You might, but it ain't going to double or quadruple in value in a short time, is it?

The whole business model was based on scuppering city through ffp and hijacking the scouting database, along with the breakaway superleague and more recently the Saudis not passing the fit and proper owner test. All gone to shit and John Henry wants out.
An accurate assessment imo.
The yanks wanted a closed shop with very little jeopardy.
If their ESL comes off I'm done.
Off to watch Stalybridge Celtic then....

At least they have some standards. I mean, Liverpool players served and died in both world wars, and fans have family who died and I'm sure their players did too. Isn't that the whole point of the Last Post? Bill Shankly served in WW2, FFS. He was in the RAF.
