It’s a bit disappointing that the opening game is Qatar vs Ecuador.

I could go and watch a few games on hough end this morning that will be a better quality.

I think the host nation always play the first game, and Ecuador is their best chance of a win if FIFA rankings are accurate.

It just feels really weird it's starting tomorrow as I've still got my city head on.
My head can't compute the jump from us to England. Usually the league is done, bit of a break and then the build up to it starting. This one it's straight out the pan into the fire, then it's going to be reversed when the world cup stops and the league fires up again.

I am missing City already I am not abit interested in the WC. It's a bloody disgrace it's been allowed to fuck up our league season. I have the same feeling for this WC as I do internationals during the season. A bloody waste of time.

There is no way I can support a team with Maguire and Rashford in. It goes against everything I stand for !

Yep, it's pretty much a traditional thing. I would guess if you go back and look through the past world cup tournaments, you may well find a couple where that didn’t happen. But they'll be the exception. Indeed, wasn't this game moved in the schedule, to be the first?

To be honest at lot of my couldnt give a fuck about the WC is all this hypocrisy. The west going on about human rights all the time, when America has poor human rights as well but is completely ignored. Our little country is to scared to call America out. The fact that America gets a free run is down to racism. The pundits going on about human rights but still go out there. The pundits could do their job from a studio in England.

It's all two faced double standards. Plus its fucking up my football, my weekends, my time with my lad, my Monday morning football chat. It's the middle of the season and I am lost without watching City !

Edit: I’d be very interested to know from the BMers who have gone, whether they’ve had to install the apps or not?

Originally up until last month we were told we needed the Etheraz app as we would have to do a covid test prior to entering Qatar, however the said test and proof of negativity was dropped so no need for Etheraz app. The Hayaa card is mandatory and without it you aren't allowed in the country. It's only obtainable by having your accommodation verified and basically acts as a visa although it also allows all public transport for free when shown while you are here. It also has to be shown on entry to matches along with the match ticket.
