That's my thinking for the move.

Danny Ricc maybe there officially for "Marketing Purposes" but could easily Max's number 2 next season at some point.

Pretty much summed up the season that race. Max dominant. LeClerc rightfully second and Mercedes car letting down Hamilton.
 
I hope Vettel is picked up in a media capacity next season. His personality is a big loss to the sport.
 
15 wins in 22 races. Utterly dominant from Verstappen. The Ferrari and Mercedes engineers have their work cut out over the winter to avoid a repeat next season. No more than with Hamilton, or Vettel, or Schumacher, or Senna, or Prost, who all went before, having one driver so dominant over the rest of the grid isn't great for the sport. Ideally, you'd like 3 or 4 challenging for the title going into the closing races of the season. But that's wishful thinking, I suppose. Maybe the young guns (Russell and LeClerc) can step up?
