2022 World Cup Discussion

The important thing is do you agree with that judgement ?
It is foetuses , but the spelling is not important.
If you want to call them foetuses , fine the issue is that downs syndrome foetuses can can be aborted up until birth, it is a disgrace.

I would not want to do it myself, but I think other people deserve to choose for themselves.

Remeber that Downs syndrome is screened for at 10 weeks and confirmed at 12 weeks, so it's incredibly rare for someone to delay the decision until 24 weeks let alone later and the reasons for that are usually medical complications.

Anyway back to the football.

My brother sent me this:

Done 5 games in 5 days. each stadium is packed with supporters for all countries as everyone is in 1city doha and can get tickets each day like we have.

It’s not like a usual World Cup where fans are spread out all around a country, and so you only see opposition fans.
the metro is superb all free and takes you to each stadium’s ( which are superb ) and again packed with all nations
Bars are busy with happy hrs around £7.50 a pint to £12 at night
Ok you can’t have a half time pint, that’s the only negative I can think off

The Cornice and souk are huge party zones

Yet bbc concerns is will Harry wear a rainbow arm band

This is the best World Cup I have been to from meeting other fans and not being scared of being robbed ( Brazil) murdered ( South Africa) or kicked in ( Germany)

Doha really is a football fans festival
Hardly any fans there with the same supporters going to most of the games.

Yet still watching it on the BBC.

It's a bollox world Cup for fans. £12 for a beer!

Some of the others have had issues I'd agree but this WC should never have gone to Qatar.

Heard this from a few expats over there. Seems a world away from the media virtue signalling cunts.

I see ITV are still going on about gay rights.
Which I’ve no problem with.
However for balance, can anyone else remember this outcry when the USA or South Africa hosted the tournament for instance?

Nope, I can't. Which is why I'm not listening to a single word of their pontificating. If they're that impassioned, let's see how many LGBT marches they join when they get back to England. I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark at zero.

3 wrongs don’t necessarily make a right.
I get the point, I would like them to be discussing other countries human rights, gay rights etc in terms of balance.
I fully understand it’s Qatar hosting so that’s why every man and his dog is sticking the boot into them.
It’s just annoying me the moral high ground everyone seems to be taking over Qatar when they should all be looking a little closer to home, including ourselves.
They seem to be saying that because football is such a global sport they are using the platform to highlight these issues.
So that shouldn’t just be Qatar.

Because it’s 2022 now and these taboos are easier to call out.

Absolutely agree that everyone can do better too.

It’s on Qatar at the moment as they put themselves in the firing line by buying the World Cup and becoming the focus of the footballing world for 6 weeks.

Let’s wait and see if future tournaments get the same coverage, no opening ceremonies shown, starting the program not discussing football.
I won’t hold my breath.
Unless we get bought out by the Chinese for instance ; )

Indeed. The Opening Ceremony was Qatar’s own fault for moving it late on.

In 4 years time I wonder if abortion will be the topic to be debated by Rio and co?
