The wife took the piss out of me when I watched The Detectorists the first time it was out....more rubbish she said........she has now watched the entire series TWICE and loves it.....top quality acting, writing and simple......I like the music as well and its all a very calming antidote to the outside hectic world!

BTW Prof Alice Roberts was there at the British Museum - if you watched when Andy and Lance are on the phone outside she comes down the steps and checks her phone stood behind them then she walks away left - the pink hair gives it away

Everytime Simon and garfunkle appear the first few notes of sound of silence play.
Simple, but absolute genius. Sums the whole show up for me, just superb writing and acting.
To have the talent to write a script as good as this blows my mind. Hats off to Mr crook, he created something truly special here.

Watched that last night for the first time. Straight after that episode finished I got on Iplayer and watched the first series in one sitting. Wonderful viewing, loved it.
