Regarding funerals I've been to plenty of family and discovered the body of one when I was still at infants school, but I guess we disagree on what's suffering. It still rankles me that someone who has, doffs cap, done his service, albeit one that was carefully managed and he was protected at all times. Is held I'm higher esteem on here than most of the BM posters. I would imagine that most, if not all an here, were not born into a privileged life but we have, mostly, made a success of our life. To be looked down on by one if our fellow BM posters is very sad.

A worrying number of posters: I prefer mangoes. Oranges are a weird colour and I feel they threaten my insecure, narrow minded view of the world.

Rational people with a fully developed sense of empathy: Really? Don't you think that's a pretty bigoted way of looking at the situation?

A larger, even more worrying number of posters: Lol. Typical. You won't even debate! Political correctness gone mad! Free speech! I should be allowed to spew hateful bile with zero accountability! How dare they cancel me. Bloody woke lefties.

Free speech isn't an "argument", it's a right and if you speak hatred then so be it, as long as you stand behind it and don't hide behind aliases so people know how hateful your thoughts. Banning it just gives it a meaning beyond it's true worth. It should be called out as hatred by those who disagree and/or ignored. I'm all for people saying what they thought of what Clarkson said and they strongly disagree but I do think he has the right to say it. If people disagree with the Sun publishing it then don't read the Sun anymore if you feel that strongly and don't click on the myriad "links" that generate cash for the authors. Prescribing what people can and can't say is a slippery slope.

I broadly agree. I'm not sure anybody, including myself, is advocating for the banning of free speech, simply far more accountability.

If you say horrendous shit, people should rightly call you out on it.

You're not being 'cancelled'.

You're not having your rights infringed upon.

You're not a victim of political correctness gone mad.

You're not being picked on by woke culture.

You're simply being called out for saying horrendous shit and for being a bit of a ****.

Free speech doesn’t exist and isn’t a right, different societies and countries draw different lines some are more free than others. You don’t have the freedom to racially abuse somebody in the Uk just as an example. That’s a good thing.
