We looked so much better when his tenacity,enthusiasm and ability was introduced.

Fucking mad to think a boy in the infancy of his career is showing seasoned world class players the way.

Exactly why Barcelona produce so many excellent players, even if they dont make it there.

This - he made a huge difference to our play. His willingness to grab the game by the scruff of its neck, by doing what he could see needed to be done and doing it with bravery and technical excellence, was a joy. He is no headless chicken, feeling the need to chuck himself about to make his name.
 
I have seen a lot of football. this guy reminds me of how similar he is to philip lahm in later part of his career under pep.

It's mostly down to excellent ownership. They had a clear plan on the football he wanted our club to play, and ensured from senior to youth, they are all molded into the same philosophy. Now it's paying off, the youngsters are fitting in like a glove, and it's up to their own ability and attitude whether they can stake a proper claim in the first team.

he's been asked to play a very niche role at the moment - i think for his own development, it would be good to see him play as a more conventional RB occasionally.
 
Just seen he was nominated for BBC Young SPOTY last year, finishing top 10, before even breaking through in the first team here. That’s some going to be recognised for your ability before getting mainstream attention, a real talent.

Was not a criticism of him, it was a preference to the back 4 and Walkers pace, when defending a 1 goal lead towards the end of the game.
 
Initially I wasn't sure what Pep was doing having him as an inverted full back. He wasn't showing for the ball and was nervous when he got it. Natural when you're so young and playing for the first team. That's completely gone now, he's showing for it constantly, knows the pass before he has the ball and is up and down the pitch fighting for every challenge. The positive thing is he is so comfortable defensively and in attack, so if we do use him as a more orthodox full back he'll be happy to create chances, overlap the winger and still has the pace to get back and defend. It's also a big kick up the arse for Walker and Cancelo to see this youngster come on and perform.
