PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Ziegler seems to be one of the club's go to guys (he got the Liverpool hack story) and he's saying by the end of the season for the Premier League panel.

I highly doubt it, much as I want it put to bed one way or another.

It would go all the way to the High Court and a stay placed on the original ruling, if required.

We could be talking years until the end game. Far too much money on the table and reputational damage to save.

A part of me would like to think this is a cosy carve up, back channelled, like the previous two skirmishes with UEFA.

However, that was done with the likes of Platini and Ceferin, and this is more about taking on an entire league with self interests and who have used the CAS case as a trial run to close the exits.

Just looked, it was 2013.

Maybe tax minimisation, maybe part of a payout/settlement from his former position, maybe he maintained a role in addition to the one at City.

I guess that's why it's so important to give people/organisations the opportunity to present a defence against accusations, particularly when as far as I know the Premier league hasn't seen the contract, just relying on the Spiegel story.

The second contract ran through until December 2013 so it would have overlapped if he'd ever made it that far.

You can see the contracts here by the way

This will all be forgot about very quickly and we can get back to the football once again. I'm not saying it will go away obviously, but for the next year I guess fuck all will happen to us

full on attack in social/not social media against City. we are guilty before proven innocent.how much longer we take this Khaldoon and accept it?

Yep, I'll bet that all forms of poisonous media are making a fortune out of this story. It's been a worldie day for advertisers and influencers but we just hold our counsel via a dignified but strong statement refuting the charges. Immensely frustrating for us fans as we suspected that this wouldn't end following the CAS verdict - twas only a matter of time before our combined enemies orchestrated a new attempt to destroy us. I just hope that we're ready for it.

I like this post very much. I’m not going to have a go at any City fans panicking a bit tonight, for obvious reasons, as this has been a stressful enough day already for all of us, but I do wonder how so many have already forgotten the tales of doom and woe from the uefa shitshow only a few years ago.
Month upon month of seeing, every time I opened twitter, some “expert”, most often in the media or an ex-player, Proclaiming with absolute, cast iron, 100% certainty, that “City are bang to rights on this one“ , “they’ve only appealed to delay the inevitable, the ban will be upheld and may even be increased” , “City will be stripped of titles and trophies” , “Player X,Y, and Z have demanded to leave”. Over and over and over again.

We know how it actually turned out, once the actual, irrefutable, evidence was presented. Complete and total exoneration.

I fully expect the same outcome here.

Some of my belief comes from being a fan, I won’t deny that. But most comes from the common sense knowledge that the people running City have known from the very earliest days of their reign that the FA, Premier League, PGMOL, most other clubs, Uefa, the entire G14, every solitary media outlet, every radio station in the world, every sports broadcast business in the world, and 95% of fans from every football team in Europe have been absolutely, gut-wrenchingly, butt-clenchingly, desperate to find something, anything, to hang on City. That we have the single most examined set of accounts in the entire history of sports, and the highest level of scrutiny of any professional organisation in the world and have had every day since the takeover. Every single day.
And so I believe, most fervently, that they would have to be monumentally, criminally, insanely stupid, arrogant, or both to have left a trail of breadcrumbs leading to anything that could be used against us. And as we all know, with the evidence of our own eyes and ears, the people running City are not stupid. They are intelligent, resourceful, innovative business people, who carry the reputation of their proud nation on their shoulders. That’s been half the problem. They are so far ahead of the game that the authorities and all the people I mentioned earlier simply cannot fathom how they can have Turned City into what they are today by legitimate means. They cannot compute it and so they rush to judgement. Again. As their belief that we are bent is a comfort to them as the alternative is to admit that we have simply hoist them by their own petards.

There is a day of reckoning on the horizon. And it will truly be a sight to see. Be glad that we will soon witness it and enjoy the rage and the incredulity as City hand them their arses publicly. Once again.

But please mate, stop referring to the police as Dibble. No idea why, but it triggers me

And relax. We’ve got this. And truly it will be glorious.
Great post.

Bad day blues and sorry to say this but all this if City win all these journalists/ clubs will be sued etc. is bollocks.

It didn’t happen after CAS and won’t happen after this.

That said, win this and I think it’s done. I can’t see them coming again (but this could be wishful thinking).

The charges are way more serious than that. It's not a concerted plan to destroy MCFC, these are allegations of serious financial misdeeds that unfortunately helped the club acquire and pay players they would otherwise not be able to afford. As punitive as you think this may seem, it had to come out at some point.

Fuckin mardarse club with mardarse fans.

Don't come on a rivals forum and start directing traffic.

You're probably not even an Arsenal fan.

Why do people think this will be done by the end of the season. It’s around 110 days till then and there are over 100 charges. This will go on for a very long time. Presumably our lawyers will request every single document the PL have and they will pore over every single letter, comma, full stop etc. I also suspect that certain journalists will be given interesting snippets of info about other clubs over the next few months. We are in for a rollercoaster of a ride but one I think we will enjoy as we will smoke all the cockroaches out and they will be grovelling. First thing we should do for Pep’s next presser is make it abundantly clear that if anyone asks a question relating to this legal investigation or even infers anything about it, said journalist and his media outlet will be banned from the club until at least the case is settled, the presser is over and everyone leaves the building. Repeat the procedure for every presser.
Probably come up with another rule we have broken if we do that!

Villa fan here, why can’t billionaire owners spend what they want on their clubs. All FFP does is protect the established cartel, the likes of Manure and the dippers. As they have the most worldwide plastic fans they will always generate the most wealth for transfers.
You've answered your own question. And answered it correctly.

If we wanted to get around wage increase rules we would have just declared both incomes in 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009. Then we could have declared both incomes in 2013 and there wouldn't have been an increase.

It doesn't stand the test of logic.

I just can't see why successful businessmen like sheikh mansour and khaldoon would want to damage their reputation, their business, the business bought, jeopordise the livelihoods of the people employed, risk the future of an established football club.

Absolutely no way on gods earth have we been hoodwinked by the CFG like the premier league are making out.

The longer i think about it the more i think how much of a farce today has been, infact it has been comical.

It's almost like the premier league has woke up in a right shitty arse mood and thought right someone is getting it today, had a meltdown in the bathroom, noticed our name on a newspaper and thought right them cunts are getting both barrels and had the mother of all meltdowns.

It really is bizarre.
The PL is, and has been for years, under tremendous pressure from the 'Legacy' clubs, who are whining about increases in competition, reduction in earning power etc when in their (simple) minds they are the main reason the PL is such a valuable global product.

This will have been intensified when the sale processes for The Pride of Singapore TM and The Grief TM have not yielded the interest and target prices expected. The PL are still sh*t scared a new Super League will effectively kill them, and if 5 of the 6 proposed members (excl OVO) are p*ssing in their ear, they have to be seen to be acting

The PL also have it in their interest to get this done, so either they can say they did their best to 5 of their 6 biggest participants, in the faint hope the PL and Champs League structure holds (spoiler alert: it won't)

Hmm says the fan of a club that cheated its way into the top flight, was funded by an oligarch and has outspent everyone else despite not having Champions League football. How’s George Graham doing these days.. you fuckin hypocrite!

We need to refrain from the whataboutery, life is full of it and is ignored as and when required.

Don't bother wasting oxygen with people on Twitter or armchair fecal experts.

When things are serious, people such as President Biden have to jump on a plane to Saudi and fist-bump the Crown Prince to beg for more oil.

Or Trump travels to Abu Dhabi and is told where to sit by Sheikh Mansour.

This is so much bigger than City if it comes to it.

If we think the UK is in trouble now, wait until Sunak picks up the blower and is told £50bn is being invested elsewhere.
Fixed

With all respect, I don’t see that at all. Sounds unlikely that Mansour will not treat his business/ investments separately (and yes I get the irony with that and the allegations).

He is not ringing Sunak and asking the Govt to sort this out for me.

However, if he was to say give evidence (written or via video link) it would take a massively brave person to throw any shade on any evidence given.

He doesn't need to ring Sunak. Abu Dhabi aren't going to continue investing in a country which has accused them of fraud.
