PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Anybody remember a documentary in 2011 on Channel 4 Dispatches. Brian Robson was the utd ambassador in the far east. Ferguson was involved , not as much as Robson . There was a few other ex footballers . It was about very wealthy people from the far east being helped to buy teams, not in the premier league, but if they get to the premier league, the club becomes much more valuable. Robson (utd's ambassador) would provide a manager, get players on loan or out of contract, from his source after talking to Alex.
The club then must get promotion over the next few years, then when promoted , the club is sold for huge profits for the clubs owners . With Robson and his utd contacts claiming 25%. The club is left potless looking for a new owner.
How was all that brushed under the carpet ? you can watch this video if you search for channel 4 Dispatches How to buy a football club . I watched on www.dailymotion.com
I'm telling you this, hoping somebody on this post has any contacts within tv or some kind of media , just to show the double standards at work . cheers

I don't undersand this either because those documents show that Mancini's consultancy fee from Al Jazira was terminated in 2012 before the PL FFP rules started operating so how can City have breached those rules. Clearly the arrangement of getting paid for a second job in another country (no matter how spurious) was a way of minimising Mancini's tax burden by spreading the cost but this is tax avoidance not tax evasion so it is legal and normal accounting practice. In fact the correspondence makes it clear that Mancini's agent was pushing for CFG to pay him more to reduce his own tax burden. So the tax bill seems to have been paid. So it's not illegal and doesn't breach FFP. This Mancini stuff is just a red herring.
Agreed. Not sure if there was a requirement at that stage to report all earnings of a manager? In which case it may breach a rule but it's just a minor administrative breach.

The last three days have been exhausting. I'm worn out, but can't sleep. My missus says City will be the end of me and I fear she's right. Anyway, looking forward to round three tomorrow when I try to square the circle that is: we misled the world and his wife over our accounting but we're only looking at a "small points deduction".

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.
hahaha brilliant.

My missus is a solicitor who was working with a District Judge today who is a BIG City fan, as both are Blues they were naturally talking about the charges and he was saying the same thing, there has to be an avenue to challenge a decision or it would be against the Laws of Natural Justice. Anyway as City have stated that they’ve been expecting this I’m pretty relaxed about it, you don’t have a four billion dollar asset run by a bunch of chancers.

The OP had a question on this particular subject, in this day and age it wasn't ridiculous even though I'd never be party to it. I did post, tongue in cheek that the Premier League should be accountable for incompetence by allowing us to breach their rules for 13 years, in that time line, like many others, I've spent a fortune on following the club that's been a constant part of my life. If we get relegated , stripped of trophies, sanctioned, those 13 years were wasted, the PL were incompetent. I've supported my club for well over 50 years, unconditionally, never thought we'd be so successful but the media, the Hateful 8/9 and other "fans" are now driving this agenda, so as fucking daft as some post's may appear don't dismiss the impact it has on some fans who' are absolutely engrossed in The Club. For some fans City is the most important thing in their lives, don't belittle these people.
Yes, I am one of those people. Live alone now, supported City for 65 years and watching them is my only joy. This is heartbreaking.

Good on you pal, some people just don't realise how important it is to be part of the City family.

Just like one of my mates, Loz, he's 73 now, City daft and three of us broke Covid lockdown rules to watch the City games at my house, without that he would have had a miserable existence during Lockdown. We watched games, had a beer (or 6) and afterwards had a bit of food and played some music,( punk for me, Brass band for my pal and melancholy 60's/70's for Loz and Soul for Mrs H), was good for his mental health and he's still going strong, unfortunately he spent the weekend in London with two of his Spud's supporting mates!!

Can't be stressed enough how spending time with family, friends or enjoying hobbies like supporting the Blues is so good for the mind.

Are we sure about that?

The PL commissions follow UK law. I think we would need to show that they haven't to take this outside the PL sphere. We have expensive lawyers, I'm sure they can think of something. And I doubt the PL would want anything in the courts.

Mentioned earlier by other posters. Maybe worth cogitating for a few moments that this matter could be considered a moving part in a gigantic mechanism that by its size could cast some sort of shadow over these events.
Not suggesting for a moment it becomes a material factor but….?

Paraphrased and interpreted from FT article Jan 2023

UAE investors look likely to go beyond early forecasts of c£6 billion investment maybe to £10 billion via UAE / UK tie-up. This includes Mubadalas, Abu Dhabi fund) c£1 billion into enhancing broadband connectivity in the UK.

What a little scrote Leterme is?! You lost
Move on. City should sue him, but they have bigger fish to fry right now.

"The current PL investigation is broader than ours was"

Should be easier to shoot to shit then.

Perfectly put. As fans we can only do our bit and over the years we have done it in spades. Travelled thousands of miles all over the country, braving the elements, the awful journey there and back and often in the old days violence from other fans. We didn't ask for much, ( Lucky as we didn't get much) just 100% effort from the lads wearing the Blue shirt on the field. We wore our loyal support as a badge of pride and honour and were admired by other fans for sticking with our team when the one just down the road was winning trophy after trophy and it would have been easy to jump ship, but we didn't.

Supporting a football club is a marriage of love and loyalty. Once that bond is made it's forever and you laugh and celebrate together in the good times and suffer and mourn in the bad times. All we dreamt of was to see us win one trophy before we died. The takeover gave us the chance to do that multiple times, it was a dream come true. How dare these suits with an affinity to rival clubs try to destroy that dream, those memories, that pride we felt in victory and triumph after decades of failure, how dare they! We, the manager's and players are totally innocent and as such shouldn't be punished for administration errors, if any were made. Fine the club, prosecute and/or boot out those guilty of any cooking of the accounts if any were made, but don't punish good honest fans and sportsmen who gave their all on and of the field, we are innocent.

8 pages on the evils of City’s owner’s short cutting their way to the top by paying obscene wages on over inflated transfer fees on players, no mention of the east Manchester regeneration, new education facilities, training complex, stadium expansion works and community projects
Next page , how wonderful it is to see Wrexham’s fairytale rise due to multi million dollar Hollywood owners, rebuilding the decaying ground, buying higher league players on big wages to fast track their rise and finally raising the profile of ‘Soccer’ in the USA

But come on mate , back in 1912 we weren’t under the watchful , envious eye of the red brigade , something really stinks about this , it’s either the white paper , or it’s the eventual super league - because it’s going to happen, it reeks of corruptness , and has done since the day we were taken over - more so when we won the league, even more so again since Pep took charge. It’s fucked , make no mistake about it - we are cheats in every single persons eyes in football.
Same sh1t different day, it was a power struggle back then, just as it is now.

History repeating itself, it always does.

Well if those 8 pages are true we are in serious trouble.

That's the only issue here, are we guilty or innocent.

Kieran Maguire shat his pants when confronted by Danny Murphy on TS, regarding the use of hacked material in any 'independent hearing'.

Maguire is a solid contributor IMO. He’s not on our side but he’s not out for blood either.

He’s also the biggest proponent of the “very suspicious timing 1 day before the white paper” theory.
