PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Well United’s current shirt sponsor Team Viewer paid a high percentage against the companies actual value. So high they have decided to stop the sponsorship as I imagine it’s probably bankrupting them. Fair market value? Nothing to see hear.

If we wanted to delve into the rags accounts, they are hidden away offshore in the Cayman Islands. I wonder why that is?
What would it take for the PL to open an investigation?
Just another club accusing them and therefore the need to investigate?

Don't know if this has been asked but
If when we give our explanation to these charges, is there any chance that the FA, react with "we are happy with MCFC answer"
Then report to the press they see it as no case to answer, but have been warned on failing to cooperate in the future

As in I'm hoping more,, they get an insight on our evidence and think,,,, fuck that we could be right in the shit if we loose

Think Team Viewer probably fell into the trap that all my United supporting family and friends fall into. Assuming that a large fan base equals loads of cash. That's why they can't understand why City can make money with no fans. But it's probably only the match day fans that have real impact. Sponsors care about exposure. Etihad aren't marketing exclusively to City fans. City games are some of the most watched games and we are the most successful club in the most watched league. That's what creates value to sponsors.

The income generated broadcasting is the result of all the fans. United don't get a proportion of it based on how many United fans their are. Even a fan in the mega store buying a United shirt is giving more money to addidas than United.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but it's a shame the club did not spend the legal costs on fighting FFP from day one instead of this sh1t show.
I think at the time, many thought it would be a coin-flip as to whether we could win a fight against FFP. This is likely part of the reason why we took the pinch. What we can say now, is that even if we had lost the battle back then, we would probably be better off than we are now, as it would have drawn a line in the sand. Instead, we have tried to play by the rules for a decade and we are no better off (arguably worse off) than we were back then. Playing nice got us nowhere.

If we do come out of this still relatively in tact, I hope the 1st thing we do, is shout from the rooftops about the need for independent regulation. No more drip-feeding to the press that then report “City are thought to be the only member of the top 6 for it”. Get it out there, front and centre, on the club website if need be and be the driving force for change. These fuckers will never stop trying to hurt us, they will never be our friends, so get ahead of the curve and take it them, rather than waiting for the next inevitable attack on us.

Pretty sure that the panel don't have the power to relegate us. They can expel us - which some would argue amounts to the same thing - but they can't relegate us.

Expulsion is the nucleur option though and I could only see them getting away with that if it turns out they have us bang to rights on the most serious charges. I can't really see that being the case though as it would mean we, the fans, along with our manager have been lied to all along. Plus I very much doubt that the people we have running the club would be so stupid as to commit large-scale accountancy fraud just to help give little ol' City a leg up! Now if it was Peter Swales running the club ;)

They wanted done quickly as in the next 2 months because you can bet one of the punishments would be a transfer ban point deduction and a big fine.

We have got some top people fighting our corner.
Very true. We have our loyal fans fighting our corner.
They are the toppest of top people!! (Is toppest a word!!)

Seriously our fans gave been loyal through the bad times and the good times and although we can’t do anything officially to help we can show our help vocally.

Come on City fans. Get behind our team.
I did a sort of trial run yesterday by dosing myself up and trying to walk the distance I know I’d have to do to get to the match on Sunday. Unfortunately it didn’t work so you are going to have to help me please on Sunday by shouting twice as loudly for me PLEASE, Please, please. :-)
Thank you everyone.

The club hasn’t challenged FFP because it benefits us as much as any other big 4 team.

It puts off other owners coming in, it makes it very difficult to close the gap.

If the club thought they were better off challenging it, they would have done so over the last 15 years.
This is the top and bottom of it. We managed to get into the club just as the door was being slammed shut. We now have the biggest turnover in world football. FFP benefits us. The purist in me absolutely hates FFP, but we didn't vote for it. Less affluent clubs did vote for it and have since seen their fans lament the fact they can't spend money. Oh well - you made your own bed, go and lie in it.

I can see your logic however we had in essence, got into the castle before the drawbridge was pulled up to keep everyone else out.

The owners said from the outset that they would invest initially with the aim of the club being self-sufficient which it has been for around a decade now and the revenue being generated shows that.
FFP which let's face it, was only brought in to protect the status quo and prevent another club muscling in merely shortened the timescale with regard to the amount of money that was initially invested.

City successfully challenging FFP at that point would only open up the drawbridge to allow others to invest.

To put it another way, at that point we were on the inside of the tent pissing out with the majority of other clubs on the outside including clubs ripe for a similar takeover were on the outside trying to piss in.
Why would we spend millions of pounds challenging a set of rules that would change this and potentially be to our detriment?

I think there is every chance of that or similar - they'll be happy that the reputational damage is done and we are left with the vague stink of shit on us. I can see us quashing everything except the 'non cooperation' thing - slap on the wrist / small fine, but enough for wankers in the press to say we were not exonerated, just like the uefa /cas thing.

Is it feasible that they can do it in 2 months? Maybe if they cut a load of corners and the outcome is pre-determined they can! But the way I see it is that if it's done properly then it will take way longer than that. City's statement is telling in that I think they're putting a lot of faith in the independent panel to go about this a lot more professionally and fairly than UEFA did.

Woke up this morning and felt a need to write something as a life long Manchester City fan. So much negativity around the club that I love and have watched since 1968.

It has been said in the media world that the truth should never get in the way of a good story. Over the course of my life, 60 years this far, I have seen this to be self evident in many many situations, both sporting and non.

Their job is to sell newspapers, get clicks and stir the pot. It has always been so. It may feel different in this scenario because they are going after our beloved Manchester City but we have been here before and won. .

We know what it feels like to be fucked. To feel like it has all gone tits up.

Halifax in the Cup.
Luton and David Pleat.
Ricky Villa.
Years and years of spankings by the different red shirts. Knowing we were shit and still showing up. We were there, somewhere, having our own experience of being City.

We know what it feels like.

Unlike all of our antagonists, who have dined for a long time at the top table. Who gorged themselves on a cycle of unfettered success. Unchallenged because of the hegemony they created.
They became complacent and stuffed full of themselves and their self important shite. Corrupt and bloated to the core.

They do not know how it feels to lose.

So when we kicked the door down, because it was the only way in, and brought a level of competition they could not live with, they did not have the spine for the fight. None of them. They tried to meet us on the pitch and failed. They tried through UEFA to knock us out and they failed again. So now they resort to the only weapon they have left. Old money. Old power. Friends in high places. The real corruption. Hidden in plain sight.

But they have picked a fight with a club who know how to scrap. We know the pain of losing big and we know how to come back from that.

Dropping 2 divisions.
Dark days and grim gallows humour. That place somewhere in the old ridings where 300,000 of us watched on in the shadows
Then Gillingham. A moment when the future looked so bleak that people walked away from Wembley , muttering "fucking typical City," only to be drawn back by a miracle.
Imagine that we had lost. I did. And I knew we would still be here come the next season.
QPR. Dead and buried. To make matters worse the old enemy winning it all. Again. Not in my lifetime. You think? Another miracle. A big fuck off metaphorical wink from Mario.

Champions.

Only this.

Just the beginning.

This club, players, management and of course us, the supporters, do not ever lie down. This too I have witnessed. Time and time again. We are City.
It is not even about the winning for me. When you have lost so many times you understand the balance of all things more deeply. You know you can always lose and it makes the joy of winning something our red friends will never ever get to experience.

The day Sergio scored was the loudest noise I ever heard in a football ground and I knew why. That banner. That sanctimonious, rub it in our faces spineless bunch of toss perpetrated by the prawn sandwich brigade. The old money. They never saw it coming. Noisy neighbours indeed.

I understood completely and more than ever before what it meant to be a Manchester City fan.
We can lose this current fight and we will still be here. That's what makes us a fucker to fight with. We don't know when we are beaten.

We're Man City.

We'll fight to the end.
Very eloquently put Blue, i feel you,ve captured the mood of all blues and saved a lot of people a lot of typing :-) trying to express similar sentiments - CTID

Well at the end of all this someone is losing badly, if/when we win the premier league are going to be fucked, if they win it will be a monumental day in football and I don’t know if City will recover as that will hang over our heads forever.

It's all gone very quiet here - from the club and the premier league both, as to the update on the situation at hand.
I want to focus on the football, we all do - but lets get fucking real here!

WE ALL want to be positive but the silence is deafening now, if we are innocent, why would the PL put its whole reputation at risk? the very real risk of them being counter sued for defamation of character and slander should we prove these allegations false.

Were being slaughtered by 100% of the media - NEVER seen anything like this in my life before - WHY CAN'T Khaldoon Al Mubarek make a statement on video in 4 days? or Soriano...thats the shit I'm left with - the voices inside my head that remain when the dust has settled.

Why accept anything if we are innocent I say go shit or bust I am sick of all the rubbish being labelled at our club.
If we're innocent then the only thing we should accept is the failing to co-operate charge just like we did last time. And if that's the only thing we get done for then we should wear it like a badge of honour because, frankly, why the fuck would anyone co-operate with a corrupt organisation that is clearly being influenced by some of its members!

If they do they do, if they decide or are advised it's better not to they won't. Very simple really.

I agree that FFP should help us like it helps the other top clubs, but I don’t think we are afraid of the competition like the others are. I would like to think the club, as well as the majority of City fans don’t believe that we have a divine right to win, or be in the top 4. The clubs we are fighting against believe it’s their league and it’s their divine right to be at the top of it. We are in the way of that and they don’t like it.

I haven’t bought a newspaper for years, haven’t listened to TalkSPORT/FiveLive in years and blocked all of their social media accounts. Also blocked rival fans YouTube idiots like the ex Forest fan.

Suggest some do the same, no point harping on about what idiots like Simon Jordan say, he’ll say it because he’s given the platform and TalkSPORT / YouTube idiots want people to reply, it’s what they thrive on.

Ignore them and trust me you’ll feel better about it : )
