I highly doubt there’s been a team anywhere in the world who have had less boring seasons than City over the last 50 years.
I was chatting to an Everton fan the other week who was bragging about their consecutive years in the top flight. And I’m like, that’s great but the only thing you’ve had of interest since the 80s, is the odd relegation battle. There’s nothing more tedious than having confirmation in October what you suspected before a ball was kicked, that you’re too good to get involved in a relegation fight but nowhere near good enough to be troubling the top teams.
Be interesting to go through each season of the last 50 years or so and count how many City weren’t involved in some sort of fight until right near the end. Be it titles, relegations or promotions.
Off the top of my head I bet it’s no more than about six or seven.
