Just read his autobiography. Went in with an open mind as he did have an impact on our history, whether it was stubbing cigars out in youth players eyes, or assaulting teenage Everton fans on pre season Asian tours. But wow, starts off with his upbringing in what he describes as a difficult environment. You get the jist, parents split. Council estate. Wrong side of the tracks.blah blah. Fuck me we all carry this shit, or know a friend who does. Anyway I quite liked it for the first few chapters because I could relate to his tales and life experiences but my god by halfway through it, I realised that Joey or Joe, by the end of his reincarnation, likes to be addressed, was a compete narcissistic, ego filled, blame shifting **** of the highest order. Would eat himself if he was chocolate.
Likes to play the hard man, grew up in Huyton, estate this estate that. What an absolute hypocrite he really is. It was penned by him, supposedly in 2017, before he got into management. He’d been reborn, was an articulate, troubled soul, misunderstood by the red topped biased media, who really deep down, under the layers would have been a drug dealing scrote had he not been a footballer.
Delusional character in my opinion who like many footballers before him, think he’s the bees knees. What a prick. Anyone else read it?

He's the sort of troubled fellow who twats someone without thinking, then says, "Oopsy daisy, sorry about that mate," while they are collecting their teeth from the floor.

He's always a gnats fart away from lashing out. Which makes him a bonafide mentalist.
Think he’s borderline psychopath to be honest.

A close mate of mine grew up on the same estate as him, said he was a wrongun. Said they were just one of those families you stayed away from as much as you could.

Pretty much admits that. It’s the falseness of his whole, sorry tales of excuses that got me. How he’s got the neck to think he’s all highly intelligent and misunderstood is mind boggling. Weird guy.

Briefly met him at a wedding at Gleneagles in 2005. He ended up spending the night with the groom’s PA. He was alright I guess, but didn’t strike me as an especially nice person. Bright, but not as bright as he thinks he is. Seemed like he was trouble.

The subsequent narrative and trajectory of his life are of no great surprise to me.

Was at a supporters branch meeting recently and a certain player said the very same as the previous posts about Joey.....and quite a bit more

She probably regretted it the next morning, sleeping with Joey Barton.
Then again, it was just another professional footballer sh@g, something to tell he mates about afterwards.

Guy is as thick as mud. Self centred, egotistical loon, who fits the narrative on here of scousers. ATVINYF.

She worked around professional footballers so shouldn’t have been impressed by that per se, and I actually don’t think it did her any favours, career wise, which I thought was unfair. Two single people in their early 20s in shagging each other, pissed-up at a wedding shocker. Had plenty of such experiences myself in my early 30s. She did nothing wrong.

"The reason I'm successful is that I work hard. I'm more intelligent than about 97% of the British Isles. If anything football has held me back. If I wasn't a footballer I'd be still more successful than 97% of youse. Still harder working than 97% of youse. Still living life not just taking part. Some of you want to get off you arse's and take part in life. Before you know it you will be dead and know one will even know u existed"
Joey/Joe Baryons own words. Incoherent, unarticulated ramblings of a genius.****

He’s not thick. He lacks judgement, self-awareness and emotional intelligence but he’s definitely not thick. Certainly based on my interaction. Agree with the self-centred, egotistical loon part though!

Where’s that from, mate? Wouldn’t say it was incoherent, as it’s clear to me what he’s saying, but unappealing nonetheless.
