How is your energy levels?
I ask because I'm a about 5 weeks in and although I have enough energy in the morning I'm finding myself really tired atm.
Not sure it this is time of year + awful sleep or lack of iron & protein.
It's coincided with a leg injury meaning I can't run but I've increased my gym routine (there alsmot every day doing something).
Despite all that, I've lost a little weight already (and could do with shifting a little more) and tiredness aside I feel better in the morning.
I'm not easting wayyyy earlier than my usual 10pm + (either 5:30 main meal or 7:30 depending on gym visits).

Not having to worry about breakfast first thing and looking forward to 11am when I can have my first tea/coffee (milked) and fruit kills a bit of the morning too - something to look forward to (honestly).

But this tiredness is getting me down....feels like iron deficiency but that's just a guess. Could be poor sleep or not enough protein. Everything else I do is healthy.

Could be a bad bed/matress too but don't want to change until I move from this flat.

Do you feel really hungry! I’m normally eating every couple of hours throughout the day and drinking cup of green tea or coffee every hour. I’ve just read that I won’t be allowed to add honey to my green tea which will make it interesting, fortunately I drink my coffee black. Lent is 60 days right, think I might try this aswell after initial 3 day filter otters fast
40 days. I never eat breakfast anyway so it's only really cutting out one meal a day for me. First couple of days are tough but then I get used to it and it's fine.

Going to try fasting from today from 6PM to 12 midday, heard that this 18 and 6 is great for weight loss, liver cleansing, improved heart and brain function.
I’ve just read I’m not allowed to have a protein shake for breakfast as that breaks the rules on fasting. :(
How difficult is it, do you actually feel starving going that long without food?
Do you do fasting every day or at a week at a time, once a month say?
I'm doing more like 11am to 7 or 8 max at the moment.
Not sure what the latest research suggests about that window being even smaller, but like lots of things you have to balance it out/personalise.
Litmus test was running park runs at 9am but I now find I probably have more energy at that time since taking this up.
Listen to that ZOE podcast a few posts back - v interesting.

Black coffee may be alright but you don't want to be adding anything else (which links to that Autophagy in the OP).
Not that I could honestly tell you if this is the right thing to do - just have to try things out for yourself and adjust.

I just have water until my first snack at 11am.

Yes mate I was researching this many moons ago . There is quite a few charlatans out their medical doctors too who over emphasise IF by selling books courses etc.

When changing anything in your life expect a few early teething problem, IF isn’t magical, autophagy happens at a cellular level where the body gets the opportunity to recycle old dysfunctional proteins and thus clears the body of junk cells. This also occurs by calorie restriction. Full autophagy doesn’t really ramp up until about 3/4 days of calorie abstinence the immune system shrinks and one food in introduced the white cells come back stronger.

Just my 2cents from trial and error if you’re doing this to lose weight it’s s great tool as long as you’re eating in s deficit. Don’t overthink it’s not magical just a tool to help with any health fitness goals you have.

Do you check the calories or just eat what you want?
I started tracking my calories early on to get a rough idea on the foods I like eating. I suggest tracking weighing for a few weeks, you will soon get to know roughly the calories you’re consuming.

I'm doing it for a couple of reasons really.
One is a bit of weight loss (I'm in reasonably good shape - lots of running, weights, yoga, pilates - rarely drink and eat healthy - size 31 waist jeans!).

But I also have a job at a desk all day (which is better if I travel into the office as I least I'm walking to the station/office etc) and that doesn't help - hence why I thought skipping a breakfast might be a good start.

Autophagy I know little about and only guessing that my form of TRE/IF enables this.
Tiredness aside (which may or may not be related - but it's a bit of an issue) I feel it's starting to benefit in some ways: I've lost a few pounds and my late night eating habit has been fixed :)

31 waist I’m jealous :) I stopped drinking 12 months ago I was mainly binging. When I first got into this I was swayed by certain fitness/doctors charlatans over hyping this way of eating.

I soon learned this works no better to calorie restriction it just helps you get into a deficit. Maybe there is some cellular benefit but the human trials are difficult to conduct due to adherence. Keep going as long as it suits your lifestyle.

It's all about the telomeres

If youre on eating twice a day.. say about 11am to take advantage of extending the sleeping fast...then ensure that the 11am grub is wet type food..grapes, yoghurt, berries, grapefruit. You want your metabolism woken to spit out yesterdays intake...else you are food stacking.

Forget half 7 feeds, sack it dont let anything dictate..sort out sleep/restoration till youre hitting its third stage...that will sort tiredness and then 5 straight days with nish nosh to eat will be well doable.

I may have misread but wouldn't that mean the first of two meals was only fruit based (I have a snack at 11 - tea, apple & banana then lunch at perhaps 1pm - usually a chicken and vegetable soup with a bit of bread. I'll then have my tea either at 5:30 (if gym class at 8) or 7:30 if I do a gym session around 5:30).

I don't think I could survive on just two meals if one is fruit based - I do a fair work out every day so could do with adding more protein?

Not entirely sure what you mean in the second paragraph? Third stage?
Should also add I'm looking into gut health a little too. I've added (tentatively) Kefir milk to my diet - just as a mid afternoon snack with blueberries at the moment.

When you say you dont think you could survive on fruit only....it's only a think ( your genes are listening to your thoughts) . Set yourself up to win, reframing the lot by binning any half 7 nosh and the reality is you could highly likely do a 48 hr fast this week...

Youre putting a lot of hurdles in your own road..whether youre fully restored everyday is the common denominator to your schedules....if you find the social side of a gym more important than 3rd stage sleep then you'll find yourself at just about the point of your recent posts.

It's my first day so appreciate any advise.
If at 12 I was to eat a banana and a protein shake, would that be considered wet food?
If i then had blueberries, an apple and a tangerine with Kefir milk. Followed by a meal at 17:30 of steak, spring onions, sauerkraut and some asparagus and mushrooms. Does that sound OK, something like that?

Break-fast is about dropping the toxins from the day before ( forget proteins)....so food that fascilitates that is goer..bananas according to our culture will be binding ..though fully ripe and theyre fine.
Forget all cereals and the bum steer egg bacon breakfasts...building foods are for the afternoon session ( if you must) .

Watermelon and dandelion/burdoch are your friend.

Will I not starve if I only eat watermelon? Or the idea is to eat that then wait an hour or so for next food? That next meal should be fruit again and then protein and my steak with vegetables for dinner?
I’m actually very surprised, I don’t feel starving as I’ve been drinking loads of water

You wont starve mate...youve a food store around your belly button called fat...to get the key you go 20+ hrs without food.

If you start eating building foods pre having a dump your stacking your foods...middle aged spread.

Once youve dumped your toxins you can have your tea whenever you want ( it was only set at factory chucking out time for necessity) and then decide how you feel about skidding through the rest of the day/night without eating to repeat the move the following day.

I've looked on xhamster and a few other sites but nothing comes up for Auto whatever.
Have you tried car magazines?
fibber if you type auto into one of those sites something will come up
