Nottingham Forest (A) | Post Match Thread

Some lovely football played by us today until the final pass - against a team just content to defend with all behind the ball you have to take your chances. We didn't and that cost us. Three uncontested headers from six yards out should mean you get at least one goal. Plus a lot of dragged shots indicates fatigue.

Just one of those days for Erling - you will not see him miss such a sitter very often.

Laporte worries me - Pep said he wanted him in to improve the teams passing on the left side but I didn't see anything that Nathan hasn't done, I felt in the second half he had many chances to play the ball quickly to Jack who was creating stuff but elected to keep going inside to Bernie to take four extra touches - plus he went to ground far too easily for their goal. Hey you never know Eddie may make a vital save soon!

Don't despair blues - we didn't lose, onto the next I guess but a big opportunity spurned - great performance & woeful finishing just about sums it up.

I don’t get all this slagging off of KDB, Gundo and Foden.
We had 23 attempts and scored one. Those who missed the sitters are more to blame if we need heads on plates.

Away from home i wonder if its not worth changing tactics, back to a false 9 or try Alvarez as we just don't seem to get Haaland involved

We signed Haaland for his pressing though right? Best presser in europe everyone was saying. What a press forward! Watch out firmino - there's a new press forward in town.
Who gives a fuck. Pass the ball to him!!
That's the problem though isn't it, Haaland will make plenty of early runs off his man and in behind, and we never find him. We have a holding mid that's all too happy to ignore him and play a safe short pass sideways and then you'll get people on here waxing lyrical wanking over his pass completion percentage - then happily ignoring his traffic cone impression for Forrest's equaliser.

Our midfield is shite at the moment IMO and he's the foundation it sits on.

It's a funny old season
.plenty of twists and turns yet..mcfc OK

And who was it that let that Forest player waltz into the box as well?

So we were shite at finishing today But if the ref/VAR gave the penno for holding in the first 10 mins then its a different game. The ref/VAR were never going to give it though, because they didnt want the game over as a competition too early in the game. We are all pissed of at the result, and we didnt take our chances but undeniably we are reffed different to other teams dippers or scum and the penno is given.

Once they made their subs to push for the goal, Pep should have immediately moved to put Ake on. Take off KDB and move Bernardo to Kevin’s role.

There isn’t a finger to point at todays result though. You could go down the starting XI and list a almost half the roster that had horrid moments. Laporte, Rodri, Haaland, Foden, and KDB all had opportunities to put this game away.

Ederson's decision making is fucking atrocious, by the way. How many goals do we concede like that where he doesn't get anywhere near the ball, but leaves himself in no mans land and gives the striker a tap in? Stay on your line and give us a fucking chance.

Nobody can doubt his importance to the way we build from the back, but in all other areas of the game he's simply not good enough for a team that wants to win the biggest prizes, and the kicker is, he's getting worse with every passing season.

Bring Ortega in for a few games. Time to show Eddy he isn't irreplaceable.
I doubt its importance as most keepers play that way now including Ortega .

I hate to rain on both your parades but we played newly promoted Forest who have probably bought more players than Chelsea and are trying to bed them in. We beat them 6-0 at our place. If we can't dominate Forest we might as well throw the towel in. We did but still couldn't beat them.
And that’s the beauty of football
The best team doesn’t always win
It’s a fact
Too many on this forum just can’t seem to get that into their heads

Sloppy becomes a habit.
Can’t see us getting away with this in the CL.

I have been waiting for months to see how we turn up and play in the Champions League knockouts, I bet we will not be sloppy or turn off, because it's only target that the players have been asked to produce this season,

I just saying it, if we win the Champions League this season then is it the best season in the clubs' history
so game like today or losing the title will mean fucking when we are partying

Well that game just showed what this seasons been about, we cannot put teams away, you got to be ruthless.
I think this is why we will struggle to win the champions league. I always feel we need to be at least 2 up before I feel comfortable. You can sometimes get away with it in the league because you play so many games but in cup competitions you can't.

Most coming in big wins when Haaland was banging them in earlier in the season.
I can understand his stamina dropping off as he's aged but his speed of thought seems off.

His execution could be better but he causes opponents problems and makes them work; well apart from some of his godawful shots today.
