Me too.Still got the badge.
The mid week game when the candlelit protest was planned I recall John Maddock being in the MEN asking for it not to happen as there could be City fans who had worked in a garage all day, straight to the ground and could have traces of petrol on them...... a candle could see them go up in flames!Takin the piss.
I was at that game - I also remeber a candellight vigil on the Kippax - was that the same game? Some guys going round with a box full of candles, of course you lit one and held it up and you got hot wax dripping down your arm. Brilliant.
£11.00 in the main stand!
They were the expensive seats!
Ah, no, not your photo… the ones from LongsightM13.I can confirm that's 100% my desk Gary :-)
Dig him up!Swales out!
Put it on eBay, you'll never have to work againStill got the badge.
And on a red backgroundThe Mirror pissed me off as they basically hijacked the protests by handing out pro Franny posters with the Mirror logo prominent - therefore other newspapers didn't show very many pictures of what was going.on to avoid advertising their rivals.
I really despised them using City fans to further their cause and not our cause.
Very likely Gary, not mine.Anorak in me thinks these images (especially the Swales one) are of a section of a page in 1 of my books. I used to have the badge and the sticker on my desk at work then took them down for use in Manchester The Greatest City in 1997.
I paid £5 for a junior season ticket in the kippax in 1980£11.00 in the main stand!
Mad how the papers used to try and get us onside, when print sales were a thing. Recognising the size and influence of our supporter base.It was about the only time the tabloids tried to jump on a City fan bandwagon. It was all about selling their papers while we had the demos, protests, abuse etc.
Probably nothing. That mad vicar who kept shouting ‘remember Ghandi’ and wanting us all to sit down, whatever happened to him?
The Mirror tried to make him the face of the protest, ‘God vs evil’ and all that as @Mad Eyed Screamer has saidProbably nothing.

As I remember the somewhat controversial Dante Friend led a lot of it. A Marmite character but personally couldn’t fault him
He was definitely an interesting character in our historyWas with him a week ago! Will try and get a youtube clip of him on a rant
He was a boring miserable bastard, we wanted to storm the gaff and smash it up but he was friendly with the Ulsterman Pat on the doorProbably nothing.
