Grealish too busy dribbling, never looks up to see where Haaland is. On the other wing, Walker can’t pass. Midfield slow, static and never look to pass forward. Stones light years ahead of Akanji, who just slows everything down.

As for Haaland, I do think he could change his positioning. If they can’t find him in the middle, then move out a bit away from the centre halfs and try outside in runs.
 
Good result. Keeper played well. Var did us no favours. We have a great chance of going through. BUT

This season our tactics largely seem to be solely based on keeping possession. And it’s not an easy watch.

If we aren’t creating chances then it’s likely we won’t win many games.

Plus. Why on earth won’t our manager make changes when it’s clear we are struggling?
 
Yeah, pfffffffffff. Pretty much like watching City 30 years ago.

Sorry, but no confidence at all for weekend. May even give it a miss. Watching us is a fucking chore these days, a few games aside. I dunno. I guess I'm just majorly pissed off that we're like this with such a "talented" squad and supposedly one of the best fucking goal scorers out there. Damn, you would never guess watching that would you ?

Not the worst result. But that’s just it.

Again with all the possession we created hardly anything. Haaland received maybe what 2 decent passes? In 92 minutes. And not for the first time. Can’t see Haaland enjoying himself.

It’s way too much back passes and turning backwards to pass it backwards. Close to boring and I never thought I’d say this about a Pep team in skyblue.

Furthermore the inconsistency was showing again. Very poor and sloppy 2nd half. It’s like we wanna win it all on a 50% workrate.

So again decent result CL wise. But I’m not impressed by the form this season. The odd exception in a hand full of games.

It's the other way round, something is very wrong since signing Haaland. Something is seriously wrong.

The most wanted striker in the world came to us, than we dont pass to him is totally bizarre.

I wouldnt blame Haaland for fucking off in the summer.

This and only this. Our style of play is anti everything he is so why buy him.
 
I guess on one hand a 1-1 draw away in the CL is ok but boy have we become a far less dynamic team. Summed up tonight yet again with us playing rondos when leading 1-0 as Erling made his fiftieth run without getting a pass. The five passes between Gundo and Ake was a shocker - not even looking for a forward pass.

For me the lack of drive from our older established players is a sign we need a reboot of the midfield. Gundo, Bernie, Mahrez & Rodri all kind of efficient but you see the really top teams go for the jugular in the same circumstance. They were so bad in that first half we should have gone for it like Madrid do.

Also strange not to even make one change to change the dynamic - Alvarez would have been perfect to come on when you could see they were pushing forward. We didn't have the players on the pitch to use the space behind.

A meh! kind of game but we need to work out how to play with a striker or not bother.
 
First half wasn't even good, scored from an unforced Leipzig error and otherwise created fuck all. Had all the ball but only because Leipzig were so cowardly. Second half an absolute shambles as we're now accustomed to seeing. No control, no threat, no solidity at the back and no plan B from genius pep.
