Correct. He's risk averse. Scared of losing the ball. The team displays the attitude of the coach. Indecisive, slow, and confused. Pep is scared to let them off the leash and they've forgotten how to play without fear.

He's near the end of his time at City and will judge himself a failure if he doesn't win the CL.

His nervous tinkering and fear of failure will leave us in a worse situation (in terms of the squad ability etc) when he leaves than when he arrived.

He's been here a season too long imo, and is in danger of tarnishing his reputation for the sake of winning the CL with someone other than Barcelona/Messi... his personal holy grail.
Mutiny!

He looked at the bench and thought foden Alverez and Philips lose the ball to much there there accuracy in passing and possession is low! That is negative thinking! I look at those players and think they can get us that other goal and on the break will be very good! Don’t get me wrong it was a good “result” but is Pep cautiousness this season because of integrating Haaland and in some way its a transitional season and for a transitional season Pep doing miracles when you look at the other clubs who go through them have been piss poor win nought for years or sitting in midtable! As fans we been spoiled by Pep and the high standards of our players..

People thought he was done in his first season they thought he was done in 2020. Some people are incapable of learning, you must be one.
Peps first season he didnt have the players to play his style of football, it wasnt his team. 2020 we had injuries to key players but at least we still played attractive football. The football we are playing now is no exaggeration awful, possession, possession with no end product. Its the opposite of what made Pep a great coach. He's falling out with players, making the same tactical mistakes, poor in game management, players out of position, this hasnt been then case in previous seasons.

Yes there were reasons and he fixed them. There are reasons now anyone wanting somebody other than Pep Guardiola to fix them are in my opinion very short sighted at best, luckily nobody in the club are that short sighted or stupid. So I have no worries Not to mention even with the issues we can see, still competing as we approach the latter stages of 3 competitions.

Know that is knee jerk.

I thought it after the Villa game last season when Gundogan dragged us over the line to win the PL. That game was lost and Pep was on the edge until Gundogan saved his bacon.

I thought it again during the Brentford match. There's something missing with Pep now. The spark has dimmed and our football is laboured and frequently boring.

His press conference rant against the PL charges did little more than mask what's been going on on the pitch imo. The same heartfelt passion isn't apparent when it comes to matches.

The team reflects the coach. Make of that what you will.

What do I make of it?

Bollocks is what I make of it mate.

Have a feeling that he knows his philosophy of old is reaching the end of its course. Good teams comfortably sitting back, limiting us to 1-3 shots on target and tearing us apart on the break. It has to be why he is constantly trying new things this season, none are really working though. And imo that's due to the core of his philosophy, possession. Pair that with having no real plan b and you find yourself in a rut when things aren't working.

At Bayern when possession wasn't working, they would drop deep and lure oppo up the pitch and they(usually Boateng) would ping balls over the top to runners. It was a brilliant plan B but unfortunately Haaland aside, all the pace in our team has been weeded out.

So what's the alternative? Pep is seemingly looking for it but has yet to find any consistency. I hope a good summer of squad rebalancing will see us with more options to change games on the fly ect. We need some serious pace, more creativity & snap centrally and a couple solid fullbacks whose noses don't bleed when they approach final third.

He's not trying new things though? That's the problem. He's doing the same thing but with a weaker, knackered squad.

Swapping having a defender who moves into midfield vs. a midfielder who moves into the back 4 isn't really changing the basic structure of how we play.

I'm amazed he's not reached a point of "fuck it lets just attack and win 5-3", instead he seems so scared he's sapping all creativity and threat out of the players.

Our bald fraud has clearly lost it and needs to pack his bags now if he thinks we all want to win every game 4 - 0. We wanna win every game 15 - 0 !

Pep out.

Some of the comments saying hes done is no different than in the 19/20 season when was struggling.

Pep will turn it around like he always does.

What i will say is that the players are taking too many touches and holding onto it instead of releasing it. The midfield are guilty of it. What happened to the two touch football?

I ain't seen much pure/our peak 4-3-3 this season? At least not consistently

Seems he's compensating in areas.
Inverted fullback back with a vengeance this season.
Like fully playing Lewis in 2 positions and sticking with it despite it causing Rico to get constantly caught up the pitch. Why? I assume to add more control, to continue to be risk adverse with Haaland up top in lieu of a false 9?
This means no support to the wide men, who by design are meant to cut in often but are now hogging the touchline to provide the width abandoned by our fullbacks. This leaves Haaland more isolated and puts a spotlight on his ignored runs.

Attempted 4-4-2 a few times then dropped it again the next game.
Bernie at LB

Guess its also things he's doing/not doing
Game management being the big one.
Freezing players out and thus further thinning the squad
Constantly rotating the backline

He's having a nightmare tbh

Some of the comments are just laughable. Im surprised the fail hasn’t put out a headline yet; ‘Posters on Man City Fan Site are more expert at game management than Guardiola’.

as Jim Mcdonald used to say ‘will you catch yourself on’.
He didn’t make a sub because he thought the 11 on the pitch were in the best position to get a result against one of the very best German teams at their gaff.

He is working so fucking hard to bring more glory to our club, I really can’t Believe the criticism and sniping that goes on on here. We won the fucking lottery when we appointed him and long may he continue with us being the innovative genius that he is.
If he though the 11 on the pitch were in the best position to get a result during the second half then he was wrong.

Fair enough. It's all about opinions.

I hope you're right, because we could end up in a right mess if we hang on to past glories for too long, like Malcolm Allison or the GPC.
all true. Or we might end up with big lugs and the PL.

He has done more than enough for me to trust him until he fails and I would expect him to walk before that happens.
