Good side but overly strong imo. If Gomez can't get a start here, he's surely no immediate future with us. Resting and protecting ake and giving gomez a game wouldn't have changed our team strength that much.

Perrone not getting a start is a tad underwhelming but more understandable given he's been here just a few weeks, hopefully another 30 minute cameo from him second half.

Palmer always seems to be unavailable when a genuine chance to start comes up, makes the bench today, would have liked to see him start too. Coming on for the last 20 if the games won and the aim is to coast it isn't the same.

Big night for phillips, a start in a midfield that's starting 11 in a cup final standard, needs a solid game. doesn't need to standout just do his job and show reliability.

Never seen the biggy with Palmer. Headless chicken row Z merchant. Glad he's not starting.

My overriding thought apart wanting City to win is that the time has come for Kalvin Phillips to kick start his City career tonight. ( tempting fate).

He’s not unfortunately. I know Phillips has arguably been worse so far but we know Phillips is a good player and just hasn’t been fit (looking forward to seeing him tonight!), but you can tell Gomez is nowhere near this level. Looks like a Championship level player.

It’s a shame. I actually rated him from what I saw of him initially, but it’s clear he struggles defensively. Going forward he’s actually quite decent!
