Important win against a tough opponent.

Good game to watch because Newcastle didn’t just park the bus.

Excellent first 20, took a deserved lead and should have punished them further. Then adopted our increasingly standard practice of playing like it's 4-0 at 1-0. this allowed them to stabilise and start to pose a threat of their own, they were well on top and looked like a matter of time before they equalised until we got that perfectly timed second which effectively killed off the game for us then we could actually cost and see the game out.

Some great individual defending today from dias ake and walker when needed as well as from ederson the few times he was called upon. We need to knock this coasting phase out of our game though until the points are properly secured, we just aren't capable of consistently holding a 1 goal lead. Overall today was much better than we were a month ago. Heading in the right direction, vital points picked up and players coming into some much needed form. Happy with that.

Walker got a couple of great touches on those whipped crosses across our goal. Both prevented tap-ins for the man behind him.

Kev is a concern, one moment of magic a game can't masquerade his overall poor play, especially his passing which has gone to shit. I'd give him a couple of weeks rest to see if it does the trick, is it purely fatigue or something else?

You just know he will be flogged to death by Belgium when the internationals come around. Needs to retire from internationals to prolong his club career. Walker and Gundo as well
