The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

So complain about them. Highlight the comments, gain enough complaints (100,000 usually does the trick) to have an MP raise the issue with the BBC Director General and the BBC will then take action.

That's all that's happened here.

Linekar hasn't been sacked because of there being enough complaints. The complaints came straight from Government and this current Government has stuffed the BBC at the top with their lackies and donors.

Yes. Outrageous amount of money for being an arrogant tosser.

His ridiculous wage is a seperate issue.

Whether people like him or not or think he's a **** is a seperate issue.

What is wrong is he criticised a new flagship policy from the Government and some in Government wanted him gone because of it - not least the Conservatives at the top of the BBC.

That is wrong, especially when there are others employed at the BBC who have agreed with Government policy over the years, tweeted quite far right viewpoints and still keep their job.

I never said he was sacked. I said he's been spoken to. Any MP can raise a complaint with the BBC, but since the Tories are in Government and they control the BBC budget and as you pointed out, have their people in the top positions. It's a case of "he who pays the piper calls the tune".

If you don't like it, you can always cancel your licence fee.

Vague.

So do you agree this isn't a BBC Tory love-fest and more having to act upon one of their representatives breaking BBC's strict impartiality rules?
Speaking simple facts is not being impartial. The fact you are defending this shit speaks volumes. I remember your sage like comments on brexit. You're not the genius political commentator you think you are.

Fair point, and that’s the whole point of Twitter (bloody awful place), short, sharp comments without long context just raise the temperature. It’s why Delaney loves the place!
And if he has already been warned - and I‘ve no idea if he has - then he’ll have to take the consequences. But as ever there doesn’t seem to be a level playing field in this country - pile ons ensue if it’s the wrong voice saying an inconvenient truth.

Delaney now on Sky News giving his expert Twitter opinion.

FFS!!

The amount he gets paid to present MOTD is ridiculous Matter of opinion but to me he’s a 3rd rate Des Lynam.

He’s perfect entitled to his personal opinion but if he works for the BBC he should be neutral and not publicly argue with the govt (even as one as useless as this). It’s not difficult.

It seems he wants the best of both worlds.

It's the double standards that is annoying. Agree with the Government or facilitate a private loan for the Prime Minister of this government and no one is sacked. Criticise the Government however...

Well they will be gone in 13mths time and Starmer and Co will be in.

I have to say I don't agree with him Comparing the UK government with Nazi Germany simply because it belittles the horror of what Nazi Germany did. But that's the way of things these days. You only have to look at the political forums on here to see people labelled fascists everyday just because they dissagree with left wing posters. It's similar imo.

It would not surprise me if the pressure was put on by other presenters who had to toe the non biased line. Upshot for me is that if the BBC loses the support of the left then they are fucked because the right hate them.

I love the comparisons with Sugar... a guy who presents a programme made by Fremantle who sell the show to the BBC. I mean 100% if the BBC broadcast Mission Impossible then Tom Cruise must 100% follow the BBC impartiality rules!!!

Facts or no, BBC representatives aren't meant to make such politically charged comments whilst under their employ. This is the result. It's no different to people calling for Fiona Bruce's head for her control of the Question Time debates that get criticised every week.

I'm "not defending this shit", i'm pointing out the facts of the situation without resorting to hyperbolic language. So give your head a wobble, lest you drown in your own toxic opinions of others.
