9 | Erling Haaland - 2022/23 Performances

I officially propose his surname be changed to Haaaaaland (and just add an ‘a’ every time he beats his single match goal tally record).
 
Mad that he scored 5 and none of the goals saw another player getting an assist. Everything fell for him perfectly today but he has an incredible sense of where to be.

Technically Akanji gets credited for 2 of them and De Bruyne for 1, as they were the last players to touch the ball before him. The penalty and the hat trick goal were unassisted though.

Weird one this as he's fell off a cliff threat wise since early season. Defenders keep tight on him and he doesn't outmuscle them. He cannot jump ,doesn't challenge for the ball and sort of hangs around waiting for the ball in a limited space behind the defenders. Needs to figure it out -love him though.

I got so much stick for my comments on Haaland, glad to say looks like my predictions in summer 2021 were pretty decent.

He's got a nose for a goal! He sensed where the ball was going to end up tonight and positioned himself to capitalise. He seems to be 2 steps ahead mentally of the defenders.
 
He and Alfie seem to be buzzing every time he scores/we win - but having fun with it as opposed to a player/family member type of enjoyment. It’s like they’re both fans, can’t imagine they’ll be in a hurry to leave given the adoration he’s getting. And it’ll definitely help things having an Alfie chant too!
 
It is scary just how good he is. It is a joy to watch him play

It was a world class centre forward display from him tonight.

His pace, power and hunger were on full display and the lad is just a brilliant, natural finisher.

His involvement in the build up play, especially in the first half, was interesting too, dropping deep and bringing the defender with him and then leaving him in his wake, worked well a couple of times and is definitely something that we should continue to use as his turn of pace is phenomenal.

The lad looks like he's happy and enjoying himself and he and the team look well up for the CL games.

I'm so glad he's ours!
