The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

Thanks for your valid and reasoned argument.

The only reply I can give is :

I would always welcome legitimate refugees and asylum seekers IF we had the capacity to do so. But the harsh simple truth is we don't.

Our current population has a significant housing crisis, so tell me where will we place all these people? Do we provide non existent housing for them ahead of people of all colours and creeds who are already here and on years long waiting lists?

Our schools are overcrowded with too large class sizes, so how do we propose to provide education when we cannot do the job properly for the existing children and students in the country?

Our Health system is ready to burst and we have massive waiting lists. Who is going to treat these people?

I fully respect and am eternally grateful to the likes of your wife who come here and ply their trade - bur that is a two way street. I'm sure she has benefitted significantly too which is quite right and proper.

However, there are very many chancers coming over as well and I'm afraid that as a consequence of dealing with them there are going to be some innocents affected. Yes we will be guilty of throwing the baby out with the bath water but.... What can we do to stop that?

I come back to my original point where in the here and now and reality of today are we going to accommodate all these people. We simply do not have the capacity.

Do you live in an area where there is significant immigration?

Radio 4 carrying a series "Shock and war" about the decision to go to war in Iraq, including looking for WMD
He references that in the piece.

In Shock and War: Iraq 20 Years On, BBC Security Correspondent Gordon Corera’s new podcast series, interviews with Sir Richard Dearlove, the former head of the Secret Intelligence Service (aka MI6), reveal him to be so relaxed about spinning the case for war that he’s almost horizontal.

Corera says journalists — including him — did not ask tough enough questions. Dearlove says

There are precedents; look at what happened recently over in Ukraine. The intelligence services have always been used [to sell policies] in certain crises.

It's remarkable that every account of this paints Gilligan as the main villain, the person who took David Kelly's words, distorted and exaggerated them and then betrayed him as the source, and yet what happened after he was forced to resign in disgrace?

Boris Johnson. Hired him at the Spectator, brought him into the mayoral press office, took him to Downing Street as a policy adviser.
Given his own deliberate distortions it's pretty ironic he used the term 'sexed up'.

There were other villains in this sorry affair of course, none of which have faced consequences for their actions....apart from Kelly of course.

Why? This is an irrelevant question. But for the record I live in a very poor part of South Wales where there are many stresses on things like education, housing and health services.

So I do witness these strains on a daily basis.

Interesting you say that - how does some migrants in Kent and the East Midlands directly affect you in S Wales - particularly as you are under a devolved Government?

The post of a thick muppet.

We live in a United Kingdom and my taxes are as valuable as the next persons.

This area needs massive investment and development and housing but my taxes will be used elsewhere to support immigrants. Like I say it is important we do that but we just do not have the money (in he country) with which to do it.

I hope you don't vote tory then.

That is a reasoned and polite post. But for the most part just not right. The 'country bursting at the seams' rhetoric has always fallen on its arse and always will. It was a great little bit of kindling to get Brexit over the line, but seems it can be whipped up on call again. Without anyone seemingly questioning why Brexit made fuck all of a difference, if they still believe the place is full.

as I understand it there was a small movement of some control over income tax to the Welsh Govt all the rest go to central govt. You are starved of development because because the central govt is Tory and the devolved Govt is Labour so they get given the bare minimum in return. Its at this point I remind you that Wales was the largest recipient of EU money before Brexit

Spot on...

I take this opportunity to remind you that Wales has been broke since the mid 70's when a woman called Thatcher took it upon herself to destroy the communities without considering what could/should replace the mines.

Yes we might have received large investment from the EU prior to Brexit, but as a Nation (UK) we contributed huge amounts too.

Never in a million years.

I find I cannot vote for anyone and I live in an area where we have a Labour MP and as far as I can tell always will.

Genuine proof that votes don't really
After 13 years of under funding in all aspects of public service the tories use nuggets like you to bang the distraction drum. It’s works really well. You don’t even vote. You’re the type who thinks trump was right about a lot of things and Boris is one of the lads. Stop with the echo chamber media and start voting.

Great post. I must remind myself to take your valuable comments on board.

Just to say I have more respect for your warped posts than I do for the Tory party.... hope that helps.

Thank you xx

Learn to read. I said postS not post, because you seem particularly inarticulate in most of what you post.

Your posts primarily seem to attack the person as opposed to the subject matter. I'm sure in your own mind you have good reason for doing that but it does not lend any positivity to your argument.

Oh FYI (as you seem so interested in me) I don't read the Daily Mail.
