They could pretty much call any Argentinian if they liked. We all have some Italian ancestry somewhere in our blood. Spain could do the same if the wanted.

The thing is that, obviously, Argentines would rather play for Argentina, that's why Italy is trying to catch up young talent that isn't on the Argentina NT radar yet to secure them before they get good enough to be able to choose.
