What has the UK become under the far right influence?

Ha! it still is a useful tactic.
Now it's the e.u being intransigent or being deliberately difficult to deal with.

Even that won't wash for much longer.

Yeah - wait until the Trans Pacific Trade Group start getting uppity and they have to admit that unlike when we were an EU member state we had a say in the rules - we are signing up to be a rule taker with no say in any changes

There is some calculation about public spending that when it got to a certain low point the system would start to break down we’ve had 13 years of cuts to essential services, and now the country is starting to break down, you can add Brexit to the mix as well

It’s going to take a while, but remember this under the last Labour government NHS waiting lists were very short, society was beginning to improve, hopefully they can fix this mess

No chance of fixing this utter shit show without going cap in hand back to the EEC and saying sorry.

We have as a country scored the biggest own goal in history, an utter disaster that has destroyed our kids future, shameful from everyone involved.

If only blair and brown didnt have ‘that’ agreement.
Brown wasnt a leader in a million years and the fact that the following election required a con-lib joint coalition makes me think if labour had a decent leader they would have won with ease.

I do worry that we are that far down the hole now that its going to be a struggle for anyone to even begin to fix it

I liked Gordon Brown. He was an outstanding chancellor.

Sadly he undermined himself as PM by failing to call an early election and IMO in that situation and up against an excellent communicator in Cameron, Labour did well for the 2010 election to end in a hung parliament. Especially given the opposition unfairly weaponised the financial crisis.

Blair (and I’m a big fan of Tony Blair, I’d vote for him 10x over) had a much easier job in 97 than Starmer is going to have should he win the next election.

To be fair to John Major the economy was getting back on its feet and there wasn’t the same level of societal breakdown that we’ve got today.

Blair inherited a country on a wave of 90s optimism.

Starmer is going to inherit a dumpster fire.

I like Starmer and he’s the first Labour leader since Blair that I feel represents me, and I have confidence he’ll be able to turn it around.

But the electorate are fickle and I do worry that when everything isn’t sunshine and rainbows after the first week of a Labour government the knives will be out.
