Today's shooting in America thread

One of the right's big talking points is to put armed guards in schools and that that will solve our problem. Basically their big idea is to get cops/private security guards killed instead of kids. They also ignore the fact that often times adults don't want to get shot and killed either and won't throw themselves in front of bullets to save kids.

I have another 3 weeks to survive here in Florida before flying home. I definitely limit the amount of times I go out of the community gate nowadays.
Behave. I've lived in Florida for 8 years now and have never seen one incident involving a gun yet and go about my daily business every day and most nights.
I've even worked from 6pm to 5am driving for Uber and Lyft in and around Tampa and St Petersburg including a few so called dodgy areas and wasn't worried in anyway at any point.
Where are you staying?

Been here since 1982. Lived in Chicago, Chicago burbs, and Florida.

Never seen a gun crime, never seen the aftermath of one, don’t recall anyone I know being involved in one…although one of our pilots was the father of one of the Parkland, FL school children shot.

That’s 40 years in “the hot zone.”

I’d rather walk around here at night than Manchester at pub close!

I've done quite a few work trips to the US over the last 8 years, and I've seen plenty of guns knocking about.

In terms of dodgy incidents, I've seen someone point a gun out of the window of an SUV at a set of traffic lights in Florida (I was 2 cars back), not far outside Crestview, Okaloosa County, when I was driving to Mobile, AL. I'm pretty sure it was road rage related as the car driver who had the gun pointed at them had caused the SUV to brake heavily about 3 blocks back from the lights where the gun was pulled.

Other times (not in FL) I've been stuck at the front of a roadblock when multiple SWAT teams have been engaged in a live shooter incident in CA (drugs related), and I was also in the same bar where the 2019 shooting happened in Dayton, OH just weeks before.

That's because you've constantly got M*rr*ssey blaring on the car speakers, even the most hardened criminals know to stay the fuck away.

Central Florida near Winter Haven . A neighbour of mine was shot to death here a couple of years ago in her home ,2 woman across the street were murdered by a guy trying to escape the police . New Year’s Eve shells were coming through neighbors roofs from people firing automatic weapons into the air. It’s a really great place. Most of my neighbors have guns and as Sherrif Judd says if someone comes in your house shoot and keep shooting.
